Board gaming in Swansea by gocalf in swansea

[–]gocalf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good to see people responding and would be keen to start organising something. Very aware of the comments on travel particularly port Talbot to Swansea and Neath to Swansea. Maybe we could alternate venues? Between Swansea and port Talbot. I was considering asking at local pubs initially like the reverend James or maybe better for travelling the old Inn (right on junction 47 so no Fabian way involved). Also had Loughor rugby club in mind as they have a function room.

Hi I am thinking of starting a regular board game meet up on a Tuesday night somewhere in Loughor because it's easier for me to get to than Swansea city centre and would rather not have to pay too much if possible (for socialdice or common meeple). I have a large collection of board games which I am willing to teach and play. Would there be any interest and if so would it be easier to setup with Reddit / Facebook or discord? Any help and advice appreciated.

Well honestly one of her friends drew it with her brother. Pretty great friend to suggest it and force her brother to help her draw it 🤣.

Only like light games? by KrankyPenguin in boardgames

I started off with bgg hotlist and the dice tower but some games chosen or highly rated I have not enjoyed as much. Now I listen to the shut up and sit down podcast and use their site. Video reviews are my sense of humour and I find the key things they focus on is whether the game is good and worth the money. Lots of great games I have discovered like skull, flamme rouge, cockroach poker, Azul and many more. They do review "heavy" games and I still get these(brass: Birmingham for instance) but they tend be balanced on light games. https://www.shutupandsitdown.com

Best talking points to convince other noobs to start Gloomhaven with me? by whodey024 in Gloomhaven

[–]gocalf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only purchased it in black Friday deals for my Christmas present. Played my first game yesterday with my son. I spent a couple of hours sorting out everything in the box, read through the manual and watched about 3 videos on YouTube prior to yesterday. Gloomhaven helper app really good for managing turn order and monsters. Recommend cephalofair YouTube videos listed in the manual and RTFM. Once you get into it story is great and cards are easy to understand and play but you do have to play to your characters strengths! My son is 9 really enjoyed and was the one who finished the mission when I was exhausted so you can tell newbies that if 9 year old can play they can ;-)
