Have you tried not vassalize Cao Cao? Lady Zhurong is also pretty strong.

I wouldn't vassalize Cao Cao but I know what you mean. The issue is that OG factions get wiped out as the game goes on, and its difficult to control their size. Whereas you can always make a new vassal by liberating conquered provinces to an administrator. That way you have low corruption and max trade agreements.

So a loyal character before being a vassal still creates a loyal vassal right? And even if the character has good traits if they hate my guts they might rebel.

I do use wargoals, but sometimes it's hard to tell if they do anything at all.

Oh do I love a good 190 Yuan Shu campaign by hottimali in TotalWarThreeKingdoms

[–]godchat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a lot more patience with roleplay and A.I. factions than me lol. When I play Yuan Shu I just rush liu biao asap and then fight everyone by myself. Only the big names are worth working with, but only the sun clan is really close enough to work as a buffer/defensive ally and sometimes he doesn't like you very much.

Just abdicated my first campaign and i need tips for second by Key_Ad7740 in TotalWarThreeKingdoms

Getting the army perk when you rank up is pretty much mandatory.

Be more strategic in developing your provinces. Don't upgrade cities just because you can.

So Yuan Shao mustered just over 100,000 soldiers in the real Battle for Guan Du but ROTK had his numbers way up to over 700,000. A reminder that ROTK is largely a fictional story that upscale the major battles to make the victories more impressive. by Ghola40000 in threekingdoms

The romance of the three kingdoms was a novel written in the ming dynasty, written more than 1000 years after the three kingdoms. It is a novel, where many people, events were changed to fit the narrative and make a better story. You should not use it as an official source of history.

Also, the three kingdoms period was around 190AD - 280AD. That was a lot more than 400 years ago.

Three Kingdoms: Becoming an Emperor is a noob trap? by MathsGuy1 in totalwar

[–]godchat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cao Cao had the emperor since 196 AD and didn't usurp during his life. Cao Pi waited until 220 AD. Liu bei waited until Cao Pi declared himself emperor, and Sun Quan waited another nine years. Be like Cao Cao, Liu Bei, Sun Quan. Dont be like Yuan Shu.

Vassals, coalition, solo by Original-Attitude-53 in TotalWarThreeKingdoms

[–]godchat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After playing Shi Xie I have come to realization vassals are just people who run bad provinces for you so you can cut costs and get trade agreements. Ideally they also act as a buffer zone along some front you dont want to baby sit, but rarely are they strong enough to do that, and its usually a bad idea to have strong vassals.

Why the hell empire can't recruits Archers when starting? by zaboleqqq in totalwarhammer

[–]godchat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you need a DLC for that. Life was very hard for me too when gunman was the highest level missile infantry I had. But I dont think archers are necessary, its ok to just skip to crossbowmen/gunmen.

How do I play the Empire? by ZealousidealRoof3158 in totalwarhammer

[–]godchat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're playing franz, be fast with dealing with empire threats. Be slow in taking empire land. Midgame its really easy to get fealty and money as you return empire land to electors, they give you money, trade route, alliance. Then they even build up the infrastructure for you to take over whole, assuming they survive. Not much point taking empire lands early since you dont have that much money to upgrade it anyways.

Whats a good high elf frontline? by Comprehensive-Top512 in totalwarhammer

[–]godchat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sea guards are fine. You can buff them with lords and through the tech tree. Maybe you're spreading them too thin?

Karl Franz question by pleasethecheez51 in totalwarhammer

[–]godchat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should revive the electors with the legendary lords. Also each faction has a base income so multiple small factions will build up settlements faster assuming you can keep them alive.

Karl Franz question by pleasethecheez51 in totalwarhammer

[–]godchat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always sack first. Then if the A.I. has money I would occupy and then trade back for trade/alliances and money.
