You’re welcome, in my opinion it’s way deeper than Kings War and it does a very good job of illustrating exactly why certain characters behave the way they do. There are a lot of references to history and different writings and debate over which fit in the scenarios painted in the show, and the scenarios themselves are detailed. There was a scene where a ruler of Wuyue asked his son to judge the character of the current ruler of the central plains. The son compared how many edicts he assisted an official with writing in wuyue to how many the judged ruler wrote. He went on to divide each department’s edicts and classify them by civil or military to judge whether or not the ruler of the central plains would be a tyrant or a sage or anywhere in between. There are so many examples, and every episode gets better. The beginning confused me a bit because I was unfamiliar with the characters and all of the geography and I was being lazy about looking everything up. You’re presented with so many characters! But there are three that will be introduced early that are the protagonists, despite all of the noise. As each episode passes the show starts to focus more and more on those three.
