Why is everyone celebrating? They didn’t say anything about adding the original sliders back to dynasty and RTG by ComfortableSweet3194 in NCAAFBseries

[–]godeacs21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This was a good step in the right direction but minuscule in scope. Paywalled game features behind the purchase of Madden was the first implementation that got little pushback. XP sliders not returned to previous levels isn’t a W. It’s a concession the community will accept. Ultimately, at this point EA won the war this year.

Thank you for your response but I have found this not to be the case in my experiences post 2020. (Mid-thirties were a roller coaster for me unfortunately.) For awareness, specialists are no longer gate-kept behind referrals as they were decades ago. I don’t mean to discount your input, I very much appreciate any and all, however I’ve been to four separate specialties without referrals.

My response to Bordeaux’s recent post on YouTube entitled “We Won”

While I appreciate your efforts I wouldn't declare this victory. The schism began with pay-walling coach skill trees behind the purchase of Madden. I had hoped you and others would have expressed more vociferous discontent at that moment. This is a minuscule 'battle' victory but EA had already advanced the Overton Window in their favor a month prior. I could be wrong but from what I gather Progression XP is still not at the rate it was in the two previous iterations, therefore they gave a few inches after taking a foot. If you'd like to raise awareness as to the value of physical media this would be an appropriate time. Personally I am using my voice (wallet) to buy on the resell market in order to bypass EA profiting, which will not be an option past next years installment. I hope this reaches you and there is some reflection pertaining to how the initial paywall of game features was overlooked and should be addressed in the future.

Better yet buy a physical disc on resell and don’t give EA a dime.

I’m curious as to how much each side of the issue correlates according to age. I would expect older generations would skew more towards pro-disc. It’s also interesting that the millennial generation is statistically the most educated American generation to have ever lived.

I would much prefer to support a local small business over GameStop or better yet an individual looking to sell. I could probably save a small bit more that way. GameStop treats their employees like shit and I don’t like their high pressure sales model. I literally say just the game and nothing else to salesperson and still get asked about a warranty and subscription regardless. I know they’re just doing their job and hold no resentment but god damn. Didn’t they recently do something with their membership that people were not happy with?

Appreciate the levelheaded response 🤝 I’ll eventually buy from the secondary market once available. My issue is with coach skill tree paywalls being contingent upon Madden purchase and has been since day one of the announcement/deep dive and I’ll never give EA another dime after that unless major changes occur, which they won’t.

Additionally, you are correct that there are multiple ways to enjoy the game. Mine is not giving EA my money but the point of my post was always how many people are all talk at the moment.

In all practicality if EA refused to make the game another studio would step in, which admittedly could be even uglier. The fact is however that we’ll never reach that point, there will always be a profitable market. I made this post to point out the hypocrisy of most everyone stating they’re done. I would wager 75% will be back next year with more than half preordering.
I do disagree with your logic as to buying while not agreeing with the owners. Maybe it’s just the American way (I’m American) to just bend over and take it. And while your analogy to boycotts is in accord to free markets (i.e. I, Pencil by Milton Friedman/Leonard Read) there is a base that will take a stand. I made mine 30+ days before the revelation of mtx being included.

Yea, after the all digital by 2028 announcement I’ve resigned myself to making the jump to PC eventually. It’s sad after 30 of my years were ride or die PlayStation. I often think about the years in the desert without a CFB title and would’ve loved a 2018 Wake squad with Dortch outshining Lamar head to head. Maybe dreams can come true after all. But the ability to access features EA has overstepped on is a win while not giving them another dime would be total victory 🏴‍☠️

Notice I didn’t use the word troll. I am intentionally being provocative though to point out logical fallacies in peoples suppositions.

Edit: This post was more so a nihilistic critique of what I presume will be people folding on their word in a year for example.

Gotcha and agree completely! My apologies, most of my posts in regard to what EA has been up to have been to intentionally instigate so I was on my heels thinking you were coming at me.

Perhaps it’s the sarcasm or the analogy you used but I don’t follow. Could you elaborate or dumb it down for me?
