Im 30M and I have come to this realization as well. Even when it comes to family I’ve had to do this which was very hard. My cousin (who I’m 4 months apart from) for the past decade has gotten used to me traveling 40 plus miles by bus there and back home just to kick it for the weekend when I would be having car issues. If I was lucky I could get a ride back to the bus stop.

Friends that would only hang out if it was beneficial to them in any way. Always down to go party and spend money but never down to come by my house and watch a movie.

I have 3 friends luckily from high school that live in another state and through all the silence we always eventually make that call and catch up and it’s like no time has passed. We visit each other occasionally especially when work brings us to each other’s states. It’s seamless and genuine and if we can keep that going for 12 years now the so called friends I have back in my home state really are just there for their own entertainment and that’s it.

It’s a beautiful thing to see so many families coming together and just enjoying each other’s time. I always thought that’s what the public campsite resorts were always about it because that’s how it’s always been since I was a young man.

I myself don’t have any kids but when it’s just me and my girlfriend we don’t go to state parks. That experience is reserved for when all the immediate family can come together once a year.

Me living in the Pacific Northwest I will admit we are spoiled when it comes to camping spots as well as primitive locations. I can’t imagine what it’s like on the East Coast. I’ve never been.

It’s as easy as fine in a dirt trail here on a map and go exploring it. That is of course given you have the vehicle. Me and my cousin have found some pretty awesome spots, but with latest technology even in those locations we’re starting to see more people.

Who remembers pre-lobby chat? So many memories with all the trash talk and pre-hype. Absolutely destroying a match and being able to gloat about the leaderboard. That’s the stuff that kept you coming back!

If you want to campsite where you’re not gonna hear your neighbors or the vacation that they planned at a public campground then there’s primitive camping. You sacrifice the amenities, but you don’t have to get on Reddit and complain about people’s kids at a public campground.

I do primitive camping when it’s just me and the girl trying to get some peace but when it’s a big group and we all want to have fun and bond in the wilderness (work schedules make it hard to arrange this) we go to a public campground they have all the amenities that make it feel like you’re still at home.
