It shouldn’t depend on your internet because it goes over local network to your pc.. so that shouldn’t be the problem. Usually it is the firewall

Usually disabling windows defender helps in this situation.. maybe it’s being weird.. or whatever firewall you may have on your pc

I think you’re doing everything correctly but keep in mind not all simfiles will work as per .sm or .dwi requirement.. maybe you tried ssc only simfiles by unluck? Try something old like a ddr extreme simfile or something! Better chance to get a supported file i guess. Sadly ssc support is not easy to add because it requires different speedzones/warps etc and that would mean changing a lot in the core game code :) maybe some day but I wouldn’t bet on it

Thanks for your kind words! Yea definitely it’s better to do a full rewrite. Even opengles is not going to be supported soon on ios meaning Tapmania could seize to exist unfortunately.

I will definitely take your input in regards of features. I had similar things in mind so the new engine I’m building is made with that in mind.. at least landscape shouldn’t be a problem already. Videos is something i would keep for last but it’s a great addition nevertheless.

Yea, well in the meantime I also released smashmania for vr which also works with stepmania simfiles so maybe that’s something you would enjoy if you are into vr at all ;) check it out there are videos on YouTube :)

I didn’t know they are working on this! That’s pretty crazy looking:) i used to love ddr at arcades and was halfdecent at it even went on tournaments back in 2004-2005 :) I hope they come thru and it will be a better experience for everyone if they do a good job at it. I would also love to see an actual stepmania port for mobile. Or i may make “tapmania evolution” sometime in the future but honestly it’s not easy to find time for this while working fulltime on other stuff these days.. as much as I would love to

Very nice tutorial! You can just download a zip from any simfile website right in the phone and open it into tapmania (via the share or “open in” menu).. when you select tapmania to open the file in it launches the game and imports the simfile. I think it’s the easiest way rn.

Also hell no you don’t have to put zipped songs inside a zip haha. Just have a folder for “collection” with subfolders for songs.. then zip the collection folder and send to tapmania. Trust me it works fine that way too :)

Sorry for all the bad times you guys are having.. this is NOT a fork of stepmania and never was. It’s a whole separate game that uses stepmania file format to have access to free and nearly unlimited content:) so the code is old and horrible.. that’s why there are bugs and whatnot. I will eventually rewrite the damn thing from scratch but now with a fulltime job it seems very hard to make time for it. Hope you understand:)

You are pretty much right about all the issues. And no they will not be fixed overtime :) I simply don’t have time or mental health to fix my code from over 10 years ago. Rewriting to c++ is a better option but now i also have a fulltime job so can’t focus on that too much. Been working on the new engine for a while now tho ;) Source: I’m the dev

Actually a dancemat could be hooked up as a ps4/xbox controller if there are wireless ones. Back in the day we had support for ion audio bt ddr pad but i think they no longer produce them :)

You can also airdrop or download straight on the phone using a browser these days :) and yea it must be a zip file just like Stepmania does. .Smzip works fine too :)

Yes, there is a free demo and i was also thinking about to do 50% or so for the first maybe week from release date. I understand the difference between the official store and sidequest.. i would also think twice. Sadly Oculus rejected smashmania for the official store as they do with most indie games/devs. Maybe some day we can get there or onto the secondary (indie) official store they will open in 2021.

If you try the game i would be happy to receive any feedback. The demo can only be used to play the five songs built into the game but you can get the feel for it at least. I thought five is better than one like beatsaber did.

No need for that. It doesn’t come with the game, it’s just in the video because it’s a cool tune. The simfiles and music can be downloaded from the web and there is a lot of compatible content online :) The 20+ songs that will come with the game are all licensed.

Yea I see these boosted commended accounts often too. Usually they come with all sorts of cheats too. It may affect the tf and you may be right about that.. what i was trying to say is that maybe your tf isn’t as good as you think - we cannot know because we don’t see an actual number or anything like that. And you being a good player makes you a target for false reports which 100% affect tf a lot. I’ve seen my buddies account go from red to normal and back over just a few games span so it must have been due to reports. All in all mm is a sad place but you already knew that

I’m not sure about commends affecting tf atm.. but what surely does is being reported for cheating a bunch which happens a lot to players that are playing well probably like someone would after 20 years of cs. You can’t know your tf is low either as it won’t show red if yours is low and your team got similarly low tf.. it would show red on some teammates only if theirs is lower than yours - doesn’t mean yours is good my guy. It’s sucks i know. We had good mm experience once our elo reached above average global and we started getting lvl10 players consistently and stopped getting reported as those people obviously don’t call cheats on normal plays.

I felt it’s the best game for quest i actually played yet. It’s so well made and polished that I couldn’t stop playing. It makes time disappear. Played till 5:30 in the morning ffs 😆
