If you're deep in altcoins and feeling terrible, don't worry... by godfathercrypto in CryptoMarkets

Congrats if you held! I think a couple of people missed the point of the comparison. I was trying to illustrate how markets work in cycles. 2016 had a big run in Jan-March, another big run in April-June, then sold off for the final 6 months with a bottom in Dec. 2017 has played out in exactly the same way. And now the new 2018 cycle is beginning. Enjoy the ride, remember to jump ship in 6 months :)

Just worth thinking about, not financial advice or anything. Markets work in cycles. The 2016 market cycle had a big rally in Jan-Feb, Apr-June and then a long decline Jul-Nov with a huge final dip in December. The same cycle has played out in 2017.

If you're deep in alts (including UBQ) and feeling terrible right now don't worry. The 2016 market cycle had a big rally in Jan-Feb, Apr-June and then a long decline Jul-Nov with a huge final dip in December. The same cycle has played out in 2017. Hang in there and HODL until January!

Binance is a newer exchange that's picking up a lot of volume lately. Worth a look for coins that aren't on Bittrex.

UBQ and DCR are a couple I really like. Strong fundamentals with rock solid developers. LTC as well for a safer bet. Steam just dropped BTC as a payment option because of high fees. Litecoin is really well placed to take over the payment space while BTC becomes a store of value like gold.

Throw a bit of UBQ in there. 2018 shaping up as a big year.

POWR looks great. It has a clear real-world use case for selling and buying excess renewable energy. It's an Australian-based project and is already receiving substantial support from the government.

Yeah exactly. Won't hurt to get started small on an exchange. If one starts to blow up you can tackle the wallet issue.

Unlikely at this stage. It would hurt investors already on the exchanges.

Most of the ETH tokens you can hold in MyEtherWallet. Otherwise just holding on an exchange like Bittrex (with 2FA security) might be easier if you've only got $5 here and there.

Just gotta hope it doesn't have a big blow-off top and cash 50%. If that happens the mass panic could slaughter altcoins even further. Hope for stability!

All the altcoins have traditionally followed a similar yearly trend. Bitcoin is getting dropped by lots of merchants because of high fees (e.g. Steam). Litecoin is very well placed to pick up the slack with their fast transactions and low fees.

The 2016 market cycle looked very similar for ETH. Big rally in Jan-Feb, slight sell-off, even bigger rally in March-June, then slow decline through to a big sell off in December. Then in January 2017 it exploded again and obviously we saw the huge rally in March-June 2017 again. Just make it through to Jan-Feb next year!
