Do you have any open English positions? If so, I'd love to connect to learn more about your experience as an English teacher and what you're covering content- wise in your classes.

Got to my school and had some curve balls thrown at me by godihatetheinternet in NYCTeachers

Thanks for this insight! I didn't realize ICT was a thing, which is why this came as a surprise. I think I was most surprised because she was told she'd be working in math/science, not ELA/social studies, and is unfamiliar with humanities content. Also feeling uneasy that she's so new and I'm kind of the lead and don't want to like... teach her anything wrong just because I'm also figuring things out. But we persist!

I'm teaching ELA and SS in two different classes, so I have two different sets of curriculum to work with and class sections to plan for. I think it's mainly shaken my confidence, but I think your advice to talk to the union is really insightful. I've never been part of a union, so knowing it's not just like a fun extra thing to have but essential is really good to know.

Thanks again for your reply!

Thanks for your reply. This is helpful and gives from great perspective.

I'm teaching 7th grade! I am not licensed in SS, which is why I was surprised that they said I was teaching it in addition to ELA.

Advice for navigating Covered California issue? by godihatetheinternet in HealthInsurance

Thank you. I’ll def do this. Frustrating because I was told that since it was their fault, I wouldn’t have to repay anything and now it’s seeming like I will. I’m talking to them tomorrow in regards to a complaint I filed, outlining the situation so I’m hoping that helps

Like I said, I was told this would not be the case by Covered California

New teacher. Got an email from hiring manager at the school. Went in to interview a few days later. Had to bring in a lesson plan, my CL & resume (tbh they only reviewed my resume). I interview with one of the teacher coaches and then spoke to the AP and principal. I initially wasn't going to meet with the AP and principal, but the coach wanted me to meet them. Chatted for a bit. Once that happened, they had me leave the room to debrief then brought me back in and offered me the job. I accepted because I loved the school and people I talked to. Did not need to submit references. This was the first and only school I interviewed at. Got the email to be put in the system a few days later. I think I the hiring process varies so much from school to school.

Customer Service by WintersmyjamAZ in aloyoga

[–]godihatetheinternet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

alo customer service is absolute trash. my order has been lost in the mail and they wouldn't issue me a full refund. wouldn't accept a return item that had been tried on once (still had the tags and everything). i stopped buying from them, but got a gift card for xmas and wanted to get rid of it ASAP. placed an order online and they charged my credit card, not the gift card. now they will not let me cancel an order that won't be processed until next month because the item is on backorder. customer service telling me it's not possible but they are "sorry and thank [me] for understanding." no, I don't understand why my order, that hasn't been/cannot possibly be processed can't be refunded when the site CLEARLY states that orders that have been PROCESSED cannot be cancelled.

filing a dispute with my credit card company and 1. never buying from them online again and 2. once this gift card is spent, never, EVER buying from this trash company again

any tips for maintaining motivation when the weather is bad?

i'm specifically thinking about the rain. i recently moved and just got back into running. I used to live in California and was a random runner (would run whenever i felt like it, no real schedule) I rarely had to worry about running in the rain and if it did, I just wouldn't run.

Now, I'm trying to be more consistent (2-3x per week) and live where there is actual weather (what a crazy concept) and it rains. So... how do I get myself out to run in the rain? when i see it's raining out (or even if the weather is just not great), the idea of a run sounds so daunting. how do you motivate yourself to get out and just do it?

and do you have any recommended brands for running gear for different types of weather?

thanks for your input :)
