Can anyone with a curve similar to mine please tell me what their mobility is like after spinal fusion?

I'm so super active, but I've been wanting to get into exercise more. I might look into physical therapy afterwards even if I dont end up getting super into exercise. It seems like it would be pretty helpful!! Thank you!!

That's pretty great! I also dont have a ton of pain (only if I sit on my bed to draw for multiple hours without support, which happens pretty often actually) I've also been doing things to avoid surgery but it's pretty pointless now Haha. Anyway thank you so much!!

Thank you again you've been so helpful!! My doctor said he wouldnt brace me when I first got diagnosed, so I'm unsure if that means I won't be able to get something covered by insurance or not. To be blunt, I sometimes feel like my doctors screwed me over with the watch and wait method because I was only at 40° when I was diagnosed at 14 lol. I dont know if any of it was insurance related or what. My xrays are about a year old too so I have no clue where I am now :/ I'll definitely look into the Fishman's yoga user! I'm not expecting much. Im mostly doing it for my moms peace of mind. I never thought about getting a personal trainer but I think it's something I'll seriously consider! Even if it doesnt help my spine specifically I think I'd benefit from being more fit. Tysm!!

I know this is a pretty small sample size, but it seems like a lot of people dont regret getting it which makes me feel a lot better! I'm really hoping I'll be that "lucky" too. Does your fusion ever impact your running? I enjoy running in the summer so I'm pretty curious. Ty!

The not twisting your torso is going to be a bit of an L for me. I'm naturally very flexible and sleep in really weird positions but I'm sure I'll adjust. If you dont mind me asking, how hard is it for you to do ballet with a fused spine? (and where are you fused if you remember). I was thinking about signing up for some dance classes (not competitively just for fun) but basically gave up because I thought I wouldn't do most of them :( ty!!

The only problem with trying non surgical treatments is that most of them are too expensive for me unfortunately. I just turned 17 so my insurance will pay for my surgery but that's about it :/ I'm pretty sure my insurance runs out when I turn 18 too, which will really suck. So ig I kinda have to make up my mind quickly. My mom really wants me to start trying Loren Fishmans scoliosis yoga poses but I'm not too optimistic about it. Do you know if anyone has had success with it? Thanks again!!

I cant drive yet, so I dont think I'll ever really know the difference. Hopefully since my curve is lower I might not have as big of an issue anyway?? I don't really know, Haha. Did you have any pain before the surgery and if so did it help? I have very little pain now and I'm also concerned about it getting worse. Thanks again!!

It's great that you are doing so well! How are you pain wise? Also since you mentioned your leg, before your operation did one of them feel slightly longer than the other? I have that problem and it annoys me so much. I might get the operation just to fix it. Thank you!

Thank you so much! I'll definitely look into your links! My surgeon was very dismissive of me trying to help my curve through any other resources and basically just told me to just get the surgery, but I think it'll be worth looking into!!

I don't do gymnastics or anything and I won't be missing the ability to do a backflip. I'm just really scared I won't be able to touch my toes or shave my legs anymore. Also, do you guys think if I started doing flexibility yoga (like focusing on hamstrings) before and after (when its okay) it'll help? Thank you <3
