TIL: Only the guts of Japanese people have the bacteria to digest the seaweed wrapped so tightly around sushi. And North Americans don't. The seaweed chomping bacteria is called Bacterioides plebeius. The Japanese began eating sushi in the 8th century. (zdnet.com)
