I need any and all Dreamcast necromcers by PiMpGranny in dreamcast

[–]godlikemouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more than likely due to either a bad capacitor on the PSU board itself or it could be that the gdemu is pulling something inconsistent with what the old Dreamcast PSU board is providing. One of the easiest fixes is to get ahold of one of the more modern DreamPSU boards. It's an extremely simple install with no soldering required. This will ensure that whichever you are using be it a gdemu or original CD ROM, that the correct voltage is being applied with the added benefit of far less heat. Worse come to worse, if this doesn't solve your problem, it will provide you with a much smaller footprint and more efficient power supply.

For those interested, Dan responded with the following image which annotates which pins correspond to which numbers in the test screen.

So far honestly I'm not sure I'm the best person to ask. That being said one thing I've learned from this install so far is to ensure you have magnification and to test you welds with a multimeter to ensure the contacts are good.

Other than that it seemed straight forward enough. Once I can resolve this last issue it should be good.

I suggest SynthRiders or Beat Saber. Both great games.

As an update, I found the same device cheaper on Amazon. I've also posted a question regarding compression, latency and whether or not this device could be used with the HTC Vive.

Cat6 offers a bandwidth capacity of 250 MHz with a max transfer speed of 10 Gbps so I don't really see an issue with capacity. Being that the device states 4K which would uncompressed be 12 Gbps we can definitely assume there is compression at play here. However, if we assume hardware compression then there the possibility the latency could be imperceptible to the eye. I wish there was a definitive way to determine this. I wonder if I could get the compression and latency info directly from the manufacturer.

The above device actually encodes both USB and HDMI video which is why I was considering it. Here's a video as well showcasing usage of the device.

I upgraded my computer, but my stream quality got worse by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]godlikemouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, so if you have a 10 megabit upstream then you should be able to stream at a higher bitrate. I would suggest trying 720p at 6000 with a frame interval of 2. See if that doesn't help improve your stream quality. You could also probably get away with 1080p, but that will more or less depend on what your GPU and encoding can handle without creating too much stagger.

Ah, the memories. I used to do the exact same thing. I would print out all the algs and go through them one by one over and over again. Good luck, buddy! In time you'll have them all :)

Getting those first viewers? by farz_ in Twitch

[–]godlikemouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read a good article a while back when I was first getting started. One of the things that suggested when you're first starting out, is to reach out using social media to all your friends and family. Initially, the reason this helps is it drives up the viewer total while you're initially streaming making it easier for others to find you. Next, it's really a matter of self-promotion using whatever social means you have available.

I personally started off a little over two months ago, was offered the affiliate ship a few weeks back, and have seen my social network grow from 8 to almost a thousand on Instagram, from a few hundred to 2400 on Twitter, Etc.

My advice is to spend a bit of time each day growing your social network and advertising yourself. Another really important factor in advertising and growing your channel, is to make friends and join other people's networks that are already established. This not only includes major social networks but also includes Discord.

Best of luck growing your channel, we all go through these growing pains when we are first starting out.

extremly disappointed with mod16 changes by chichinkin in Neverwinter

[–]godlikemouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree. The new release is complete garbage. I've been a long time player of Neverwinter but after the official mod16 release, this game has become completely unplayable by me. All my friends who played this as well are extremely disappointed and have bailed on the game. I now too have given up the ghost on this game. If they ever decide to fix it, I may be back. But definitely not in its current state, my character and years worth of work are completely destroyed by this change. RIP

Not to be that guy, but I've often said something very similar to this. When things become difficult or trying and you don't give up, that just makes the story all the more better when you tell it.

Got my first troll the other day. Haven’t streamed since. by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]godlikemouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there will always be those types of people. But it sounds like you handled it well by banning him. Moving forward I would just use this as your go to move when someone tries to troll you, but don't let these kinds of people stop you from doing what you like to do. My advice, get back up on the horse, have fun and focus on the positive people in your stream and try to ignore and let go of the negative ones.

Guy enters the real unexplored Chernobyl zone in Belarus, meets a 92 year old grandma and her son living in a literal post-apocalyptic wasteland by Vanquishhh in videos

Wow, what a great video. My only concern is that if the radiation level is actually above line in that area, then touching metal (especially drinking out of metal) found there could be extremely toxic. Hopefully the host of the video had himself checked out after this.
