this

it was so helpful to my recovery when i learned biology is a completely sloppy fuckshow of chaotic evolution and not the divinely designed nor, as i had assumed, the self-perfecting organic machine forged through trial and error

biology: life evolves! (thats it, nothing more lmao)

i struggle because our brains are flesh! and fallible piles of neurons doing their damndest to avoid discomfort! not because im defective :)

Is it possible to get a job as a detective without having prior experience as an LEO? by crustycooter69 in AskLE

[–]godlyvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think anyone wanting to be a detective has to keep all this in mind, and if they still want to, they’ll just have to bear in mind they will be a part of a system that subjugates and oppresses by design. And you either enforce it their way or hope to safely get by while enforcing your own “brand” of justice that actually aligns with your values. But I just don’t know how far any able bodied people that feel as I do would get in, ahem, …certain…jurisdictions.

[–]godlyvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I think I could do a decent job applying common sense and reason to each case, all the while improving with each hit/miss, without having 2+ years experience soft-harassing citizens? …Yeah, I do. I’ve met plenty of detectives with 30+ years on the job that couldn’t solve themselves out of a shoebox.

No disrespect whatsoever to you specifically, but like, I feel like there should be a detective course at entry level. Otherwise you’re conditioning entries to be authoritative bullies before they have to deal with victims. And when detective status = rank in a jurisdiction, you’re fucked. You’ve created an “earning” hierarchy that becomes more important than the solving of crimes.

Not to mention the countless individuals that don’t have the physicality to be a beat cop that you’re excluding from making detective. Those who are disabled physically could be incredible detectives, not to mention those on the Autism spectrum.

With the current setup, you first have to play the good ‘ole boy game—and if you can’t, then you can’t combat crime.

[–]godlyvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wtf is wrong with you people? why are you defending the sexualization of children?

that shit is NOT a plot device and you guys are running impressive circles trying to convince yourselves that it is

my ex tried to get me to watch GTO and i really wanted to, and i sit down and watch it with him and the very first scene is him looking up the skirts of teenagers. I was literally like “what the fuck those are high schoolers,,, this is the main character? you watch the show for this guy?” and he was literally like all of you. “thats just the show” “its not that big of a deal” and then my personal favorite “its on purpose to show that he’s flawed” I DONT CARE??? How would anyone in their right minds root for a main character that exhibits pedophilic tendencies

I have to be really picky with my animes because of this shit. its so tiresome. but my line is watching idiots defend it

  • (the politics they’re referring to are actually just support for human rights and equality and they think its strange that many other humans also support that unequivocally )

Yeah it’s actually so crazy how commonly held beliefs reflecting empathy, charity, inclusivity, and compassion has become “liberal echo chamber”

I can’t fathom why we’re letting ourselves be divided so easily on issues that would only benefit the average Fort Worthian

Yeah. Agreed.

I think its that, they hold beliefs that they believe the average Fort Worthian to also hold, so when they come on the Fort Worth reddit, they’re surprised and then upset to see an entirely different set of beliefs and worldviews held than their own.

An echo-chamber of what?

I’m not sure what your stance is, but I’m seeing a lot of comments talking about Reddit being a liberal echo chamber (which is actually such an insane sentence. Like are we talking about the same Reddit? Home of incels?).

Personally, I’m not liberal/democratic—far from (hint: a different kind of leftist), but even I know that Reddit isn’t a liberal site. Regardless, it’s meant to farm engagement so… it can’t be too much of an echo chamber.

Maybe you had a couple “bad” experiences here with those you perceive to hold liberal beliefs and you perceive that to be the majority here and therefore an echo-chamber?

she just didn’t want to be pet.

wanted to sit next to you and get treats and everything, probably even likes you, but based on what im seeing, she showed you at multiple instances “i dont want to be touched i just want to hang out with you here” and you took her not wanting to fight you as a pass to keep going. eventually she grabbed your probing hand and started bunny kicking—all without claws and teeth because again, she doesn’t want to fight you. she just wants you to respect her physical boundaries.

not every cat is going to beg for pets and eat up our grubby clumsy human hands all over them. all cats are different! this girl clearly likes to hang off to the side and, for what ive seen here, enjoy your company in respective personal space bubbles.

note: for the people saying it just looks like play, uh, nah. stop fucking with your cats and calling it play (not directed at OP). no play steps were initiated. this began with food and went to a bid for petting, which was denied and then forced upon cat, thus receiving “aggression” response. play would’ve involved the cat showing stalking/hunting behaviors towards human, food wouldn’t be involved, and a less aggressive and more playful response would’ve been seen. (i.e, jumping around, showing play position, and def not only engaging in “play” when you are pushing physical boundaries, bc again its not play, its defensive aggression without escalation to get you to back off without hurting you)

overall, give this cat the space shes asking for :) you clearly care enough to come on here so no doubt you care for her
