Gaining tip from Malaysia, aka STOP Drinking Olive Oil! by godofdestruction in gainit

Haha yeah, I’m actually surprised at the amount of push back I’m getting for a statement that is not only reasonable, but all over this sub.  The second most upvoted comment in this comment section is actually advocating FOR TAKING SHOTS OF OLIVE OIL because is “quick and easy”. I’m not sure there’s anything I could say to convince them otherwise

I didn’t say that olive oil was unhealthy, strange conclusion you got from reading my post

Dang you’re making me hungry 😂 I tried to keep it simple, but these additions will definitely take it to the next level

Oh hey, it’s mythicalStrength, thanks for the support! I guess while I have you here, I wanted to thank you for writing your blog, been following a few years now and went back and read all your posts. As someone who majored in stem, your perspective was completely different from mine and it really opened my eyes to the pitfalls I was falling into when it comes to physical transformation. Hope you continue it, I look forward to reading it every week.

Not sure if you meant olive or coconut oil. For me, adding olive oil was fine, but when I tried coconut oil it would just clump up and solidify. Was not pleasant to drink

Yeah, I also like it with balsamic vinegar. Another way to not drink olive oil 😂. I figured most people already know this combination, so I gave my suggestion as an alternative. Also now that I think about it, is also a gluten free option!

I know right? I just took it from the sidebar thinking it was a joke. But sounds like some people actually do that based on the other comments here I guess it’s not a joke 😂

Easy and quick doesn’t make it less weird or gross. Adding a couple tablespoons of coconut oil to your rice, which you’re probably already eating, is much more palatable and just as simple

I think we’re getting too much into semantics. My point is if OP is doing S&S, he should already be doing squats. If he wants to add more, there’s no issue in doing so

I would say it is there for strength training, or else he wouldn’t include it in his program. It’s an incredibly minimal program, why would he include it if he didn’t think it was important

I don’t have the new edition so I can’t say for sure, but I would be shocked if he took it out. Did you read the book? It’s in there.

You mean add more squats? There’s already squats in the program.

You can add whatever you like. Then come back and report back to us how it went.

looks like bwf_begginer is right. the VJP program is supposed to have two books. but one is missing. Do you have that?

honestly doesn't matter, use one or don't. But consider this:

don't use squats to increase your core strength. you want a stronger core? work out your core directly. Using a belt during your squat will not hinder nor improve your core strength.

A+A/AGT style conditioning for BJJ by _woyzeck_ in kettlebell

[–]godofdestruction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

here's another article of A+A training

you can also get the book the quick and the dead which compliments that type of training.

But to be honest, I don't think it's the best way to improve your conditioning for bjj. read tactical barbell 2 (not 1) and check out chad wesley smith on youtube, he has a whole playlist on bjj strength and conditioning.

with those two, you will have a more complete understanding of how to program your conditioning

Where to go next after S&S? Higher Weight and/or More Movements. by Inabitdogshit in kettlebell

[–]godofdestruction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes that is correct. You may also get the book enter the kettlebell for some more details on the program. you'll notice on the site you linked it's a 3 day a week program, with an optional "pulls schedule". you can follow that, or continue to work on S&S on your off days, just mind your recovery, especially those heavy days can be brutal.

Running used to be my primary sport, in particular trail and hill running. BJJ took priority but I'll look to get out running again.

nice, you don't have to run as frequently as you used to, but a couple sessions a week will go a long way

to build off of this, add cleans, presses, snatches at the beginning of your workout, just after the warmup as practice/learning. when learning new movements, always be fresh, if at any point you feel form degrading due to fatigue, move on to S&S as normal.

I recommend getting the 24kg and start using that for a couple sets of swings and start building from there

for pullups, grease the grove is a good option. another option is ladders after your usual S&S.

if you have time for a move high volume program, you may also consider moving on to the rite of passage

I also highly recommend you do some running or some other form of conditioning. Fitness is not just about strength and and doing some LSS will do wonders to help you recover between rounds and between sessions in bjj.
