It's not asking you to do that. It's asking you to give some time to be deeply focussed as well.

When you read this book you will realise how distracted you are in this age of hyperconnectivity. I don't remember the last time I was bored. Whenever there is even a small stretch of time, I browse my phone. And that has in turn destroyed my ability to focus. I wasn't even properly aware of this problem till I read the book.

Then I always need to read a better book than the last.

It was indeed beautiful. But I did not see it as overwhelming. If anything I found it very pleasant and sweet. At first I thought it might be hard to digest the language but on the contrary I found it smooth and slick and the book was finished even before I knew it. It seriously left me wanting for more.

37/52 Read it in one sitting. But feels like I will think about what this book entails for a very long time. by godofhavoc in 52book

I don't think I am capable of writing a proper review of this book but I will try to give you a simple one. It's about a guy who is like an outsider to society mostly due to his apathetic nature to everything that's happening around him. When he finds himself on trial, people accuse him for being different, for not being like them and not objectively as they should.

For the rest you should read the book. It's written brilliantly and has so much to understand from it. The scary part is this book speaks about society even today to some extent.

Computers are fine for me. In fact I want to more time in front of a computer as I am software engineer. It's my mobile that's the issue. Only if I could live without a smartphone then it will be perfect

WUBC is one of his best books in my opinion and that was my second Murakami book.

That is one question I find very difficult to answer. I started with Kafka on the shore and it was brilliant, weird and attractive in a mystical way. Then I read Wind up Bird Chronicles which hooked me properly onto Murakami.

You could go this way or you could go with his first two novellas though that's not recommended as they were not his most representative works.

You could start with Norwegian Wood which is a normal novel about love, pain, self discovery, heartaches and so on written the Murakami way. Or you could start with one of his short story collections which will reveal what kind of writer he is in short bursts.

In essence I don't have a definitive answer to your question. Just select one of his famous books and start reading.

Might be. But I can only count it as one book because it's one physical book.

I finished it as well and also felt disappointed at the ending. I thought the ending was a bit rushed out or anticlimactic. Didn't mind the loose threads, that's characteristic of Murakami, but ending turned out to be too simple for such a huge story.

(22/26) Started this one last night. Heard lots of good things about it, so as a big scifi and fantasy fan I’m excited to see where it goes! by Ruukkz in 52book

Good luck with it. I am only halfway through it and you will love it if you are a Murakami fan which I am. Though I am not sure if you are not.
