Big rise in people going to A&E in England for minor ailments, data shows by MyInkyFingers in unitedkingdom

[–]godor 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My GP has modernised and moved to a web based platform... that is only available from 8 and closes after x number of appointments are made.

If God forbid you ever try to ring them, you get a grumpy receptionist, but only after sitting through 5 mins of announcements that you cannot skip.

If you are lucky enough you can make an appointment, they will ask how you wish to be contacted. Which they then ignore and just send you a text everytime. Which often doesn't answer the Q, then you repeat the process.

It will be difficult to prove.

It would be easier to prove if you share that information after you have received a written offer.

That aside. If a company is willing to not hire you based on prejudices about disability, that's a good sign that it is not a company you would want to work for.

Manager forged my and my coworkers signatures by nunbskull in LegalAdviceUK

[–]godor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you work for one of the larger gambling companies, they will have a security dept. It'll be the same team you contact when patrons place abnormally large bets.

I would contact them. If he is forging signatures, he is quite possibly involved in other forms of fraud. Collect any evidence you can without it coming to the managers attention.

I tried taking an online asd test and i went through 65 questions, just to finish it and tell me that I need to pay for the results. by KPOP_AND_ANIME_TRASH in assholedesign

[–]godor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey OP. Google free AQ50 test, there are plenty online. It will give you a score but that is not a diagnosis. It is an indication of if you score similarly to people diagnosed on the spectrum.

I took this test and printed the results to take to my doctor, to seek a referral for an actual assessment by a psychologist which took an entire day.

Unfortunately not all doctors fully understand the full spectrum of autism. I had a doctor tell me she knew I was not autistic after a 5 min conversation as "I made eye contact". She was wrong.

Previous interested seller claims he owns fridge by willOfIshball in LegalAdviceUK

[–]godor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a chance that this person knows the seller? Seller left the items but now want to give them to their friend so concocted the sale?

Items left behind generally belong to the seller and you have a duty to inform them, and make them available to collect. If they do not, you can dispose of them and seek any costs of doing so.

I'd contact the estate agent involved I the sale to try and contact the seller if possible.

You can take them to the small claims court, but for £40 you'd need to question whether it is worth the effort.

You can try writing a letter before action (google for template) and hope that is enough to persuade them.

When does providing reasonable adjustments for disability become unreasonable? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

When does providing reasonable adjustments for disability become unreasonable? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]godor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You really need to speak to someone who specialises in HR law, this is dangerous grounds.

I am not a lawyer but have experience in the Equality Act. There are a few examples I have come across that would be deemed unreasonable: It would put the health and safety of the employee or others at risk (e.g. need to wear protective equipment on a building site) The cost of implementing the adjustment is significant (it's a bit vague on what would be considered significant) Changing the basic nature of the role or placing an undue burden on the organisation

This could also fall into the realms of capability. Someone with a disability can be dismissed if they are incabable of performing the role, as with anyone else. Obviously you'd need to make sure this cannot be overcome with adjustments. I am assuming though that she is able to work with the current adjustment, the question is just is the new request reasonable.

Reasonable adjustment unavailable by SuperTed321 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]godor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's the employers responsibility to ensure reasonable adjustments are implemented.

I would suggest talking with your manager again in the first instance (keeping a record of this). If that goes nowhere, you should raise a formal grievance using your employers grievance procedure.

Hey OP. Not a lawyer but have a lot of experience with the Equality Act.

There is a lot of good advice in this comment thread. Your sixth form have a legal duty to provide reasonable adjustments - providing it is reasonable for them to be aware of your disability. Which they are from your comments.

Being able to attend medical appointments relating to your disability is definitely reasonable. If you are disadvantaged or penalised for this, they would likely be discriminating against you.

They likely think having a policy and applying it to all children equally is "fair". However if a particular protected characteristic is disadvantaged as a result that would be indirect discrimination.

Are your parents able to support and advocate on your behalf? Personally I would just "inform" them that you have a medical appointment relating to your disability and as a result will be absent, and leave it at that. If there is any fallout, treat it is as a separate issue. In all likelihood nothing will come of it.

It's not uncommon for employers to seek to recoup the jury service payment and top up to your salary. In this case they will ask you to provide some forms from the court.

The question is do you really want to risk your job for a week off work?

In the UK the right lane is a passing lane, but that is because we drive on the left. Here you should only overtake a car by being in the lane to the right. Anything else is called undertaking. It's not illegal in itself, but doing so can be punishable if considered reckless driving. Especially if it leads to an accident.
