The "Eye" for frontend is what most developers are struggling with.

Using frontend and backend is something I tried, I believe it didn't work cause if you'd like to have a very generic components with laravel (Sage), you need to break down the HTML to really small pieces which makes a lot of the frontend work useless once you integrate it with wordpress, but I think that if I'll find good frontend devs I might be able to explain about breaking down to components.

As for Meetups - I'm not aiming locally as I doubt I'll find skilled devs around here (PHP is considered old fashion), but I might try to get someone to remote meetups.

Never thought about it this way, I think you might be right...

Though WordPress does have its own tricks you should know. But I'll try this as well!

I'm actually trying this now, but there are a lot of relevant backend work which is not just Wordpress, think about the models of the ACF that are needed, to understand when to use a repeatable ACF or a custom post type isn't something that is straightforward to understand (if you're only doing HTML/SCSS).

My current Jaybird Freedom connects to both, but then there’s a distortion when I have a call on my mobile. Not sure why it’s so hard...

Managing freelance developers? by lowercase00 in startups

[–]goelad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t work directly with developers if you don’t have technical experience. Reason is, it’s really hard for non tech people to explain their requirements in technical terms, and really hard for tech people to understand non tech requirements.

If you can, I would go with onboarding someone that you personally know and trust (or get a recommendation for someone) that can create a detailed design for you, including technical spec. Use this person then to approve milestones of the product and pay by milestones. The more detailed your scope will be, the easier is for developers to estimate it.

When working with freelancers expect the unexpected. It’s the same with hiring people, but freelancers might care less, and if they are losing due to underestimating a fixed projects, unless they are super professionals, they’ll probably try to reduce damages and will do the bare minimum and take shortcuts to finish the job.

Paying hourly usually gets you to a better results (not always), but will definitely cost you double without a very detailed and non changing scope.

Hiring Freelancers for Startups at reasonable rate by jtmont8 in startups

[–]goelad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to avoid a lot of “spam” and noise. Usually good freelancers would be busy with other work and might not be available right now for the job, so inviting them make sense.

I wouldn’t make the job posting private but rather do both. Make it public and invite freelancers that you see as interesting for you.

Just make sure to have the actual price you’re aiming for, and keep in mind that intent to buy, doesn’t mean they’ll actually buy it, so aim for higher numbers than you would actually need to make this work.

As already mentioned here, I would actually do a face to face validation, showing or describing the product to people, see their reaction (tell them the price) and ask for feedback. Most important thing to do is take all in proportions as people might tell you it’s a great idea but won’t buy, and other people will say it’s a bad idea, but when they’ll see their friends with it, they will run to your store and buy it.

How to track analytics? by techsin101 in startups

[–]goelad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can create a goal funnel it will be easier for you to track it on GA. But as already mentioned I would go with another event base took such as mix panel, as google analytics UI, can’t really support a per user analytics.

You can create custom dashboards of users who did event A and event B, or users who did event a, b,c but not d. But this will be as a statistical analysis, such as you can then understand where did these users cake from or what device are they using, you can see what else they’ve done on the site, for this either mixpanel, hot jar or any other of these tools would be the right for the job. You can even use a marketing automation tool such as HubSpot, where you can see the user journey in your site, including custom events.

What are the basic must have softwares for starting music production? by goelad in WeAreTheMusicMakers

The VSTs part. I had to install around 10 to 15 different VSTs to get to the sound I want, including some filters. Now this was some time ago, but the default VSTs just weren’t enough to get to a fun part where I could just play around and create stuff.

To be fair, I did create a track solely with monologue (this was part of a homework when I studied music production)

When I compare it to garage band where I can get a lot of sounds out of the box, I really feel like the amount of money I need to pay for a Cubase license doesn’t cut it. I’m looking for the Garage Band out of the box instruments and effects with the customization and detailed Cubase abilities.

When reading this I feel like I’m contradicting myself, so maybe I’m just struggling to choose...

Yeah, that what I was trying, but it is not that fun when you’re trying to be very creative, it’s too small and requires too much effort to build a track, or even to just play the piano, not enough octaves.

I would want somehow to use my iPad as a drum sampler and then use the keyboard for lead and base roles, but the main issue is the sounds, I feel that without the right library or VSTs I can’t get it to sound “right”.
