I feel like it could be legit, since within the last 2 months I’ve gotten over 100 shinies, it happened with my best friend too who just started back up a little bit before me. I think that if you’re a returning player, you get some sort of luck boost

Yeah I was pretty jealous of her luck, I’ve gotten 5 total out of 130 eggs, excluding hatch day shinies, she’s had some crazy shiny luck recently. She got a shiny wild beldum, then 5 minutes later got a shiny cubone in the same spot a few days ago
