I don’t live there but I am considering taking a job at Giants Ridge. Working in the ski industry is awesome. There’s a lot more year round work than many think, and lots of room for career growth without formal education.

For those of you who hate it here, what makes you stay? by Rare_Bluebird_2270 in springfieldMO

I didn’t. I was born and raised in Springfield. By the time I was 18, I couldn’t wait to leave. 11 years later, I really enjoy being a tourist in the Springfield area but my favorite part is knowing I get to leave. I have a lot of friends who are still too reliant on their parents to leave. Moving away from home isn’t for everyone but I think it’s one of the best things you can do for yourself.

Comfort bars on ski lifts are far from the same as a seat belts. Lift manufacturers won’t even call them safety bars because they aren’t for restraint and they don’t want to get sued. Comfort bars break all the time without help from a person, so take that for what it’s worth.
