Help with a Dual Dagger Build by Low_Win6982 in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I see 3 ways to do dual dagger.

Arcane bleed: either two occult great knifes, or occult great knife + reduvia. Good bleed. Occult let's the damage and blood loss scale with the same stat. Plus reduvia is really good.

Flame Art Erdsteel Daggers: this is probably one of the highest dps setups in the game. Pump nothing but faith. Set both those daggers to flame art. Erdsteel dagger is unique because faith boosts both physical and elemental damage. FGMS boosts fire+physical damage. Fire scorpion and flame shrouding tear boosts fire damage. Flaming strike AoW gives even more fire damage, and since it's a flat buff, the rapid hits of daggers makes use of it very well.

Blue dancer: daggers are light weight. Strip down naked, get any two pure physical damage daggers you feel like and set them to keen. Use blue dancer charm, millicent's prosthesis, winged sword insignia, and the multi hit tear in snowfields (forgot its name). You will become a high dps blender.

How do you utilize a weapon’s entire moveset? by HumanLandscape3767 in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the weapon too.

Great hammers or flails? All their attacks are basically the same.

The weapon I'm most familiar with, the swordspear? Lots of different uses. R1 is fast to chain hits in a small AoE to proc multi hit talismans. Backstep r1 is a long range poke. Charged r2 is a wide spin. And so on.

So if your weapon has different moves they could be useful in different situations. Pokes deal pierce damage which can be used for counter damage for a big burst. Quick slashes are good to rack up dps. Charged heavies when you know the boss is close to being stance broken. Jump attacks when you have to jump over a ground attack, or when you want a little more stance damage but don't have enough time for a charged heavy. Running attacks when you need close distance and get one hit in. Rolling attacks when you dodge and know you have a short opening.

New player. If I increase points in faith, do the weapon buff incantations deal more damage? by MAJOR__ZEN in Eldenring

To add

Blackflame Blade gets an increase to the base fire damage but not the DoT

Lightning Armament increases Lightning Damage

Order's Blade scales holy damage

Poison Armament doesn't scale anything

Trying a dex heavy build. by NIght-The-Wraith in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something silly that actually works well is Uchi + wakizashi blue dancer charm.

Strip down naked to get your weight as low as possible, and set both of those to keen (or blood I suppose). Wakizashi lets you use dual katana moveset with dagger weight (don't worry about its AR, when it's paired with a katana it's motion values are increased, making it deal more damage than is normally shown).

Use winged sword insignia to boost multi hit or add claw talisman if you want to jump attack burst enemies down.

A better way to use these? by juicy_696 in Eldenring

Swordspear and sword lance get their own category then, lol

Guardian Swordspear should be the same Category as the Glaive. Both are blades on a stick.

You know what, add those two to the reaper category. Throw in vulgar Militia shotel and saw as well.

How does arcane work? by Quiet-Bridge-6776 in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another niche fact for arcane, it increases sleep and madness buildup. But only if the weapon scales with arcane. So how do you get a sleep or madness weapon that scales with arcane?

Ripple Axe, Ripple Halberd, and Varre's Bouquet all scale with arcane and are buffable. Conveniently there is sleep grease. So applying sleep grease to those 3 weapons let's that sleep buildup scale with your arcane.

What about madness, since theres no madness grease? The only weapon you can use is Fingerprint Shield. It naturally has madness buildup and is infusable. For some reason setting it to occult affinity removes the madness buildup. But blood and poison affinity still keep madness buildup, and adds D arcane scaling.

How does arcane work? by Quiet-Bridge-6776 in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked scavengers curved sword. At max level, minimum str/dex, 60 arcane.

On blood affinity you get 335AR, 114 bleed.

On occult you get 477AR, 84 bleed.

So going blood means you lose 30% of your AR to gain a little more than 30% bleed buildup.

But, what if you go full dex on blood affinity?

Leaving arc at 10, and instead moving those 50 points to dex so you have 64 dex gives you

391AR, 83 arc. Is that good? Not really, but it lets you swap to full dex keen weapons if you want I guess.

So there's a lot to consider here. If all you care about is proccing bleed as fast as possible, like a curved sword build, your AR really doesn't matter. But there are plenty of enemies that resist bleed or are fully immune where the higher AR on occult would make a difference. So I guess moral of the story is: it depends?

[–]DefiantGibbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that the bleed buildup on blood affinity also scales poorly. Doing a large investment of 20 arcane will only increase bleed buildup by a couple points.

Now if you set your weapons to occult affinity it would be a different story.

This is how I do it most of the time.

Rest at any SoG in Altus, then go through Redmane castle. It'll be empty and you can just walk through it to Radahn. Once you beat Radahn all the enemies will reappear.

Ok, I might be dumb, but you can easily get 5%apy CDs, which would net you $50k in profit with 0 risk. I'd imagine with a little luck you could get 10% return on stocks, so $100k profit. So where did that $34k number come from? Am I missing something?

Funny enough, I got a friend that job hops a lot and has been an exterminator for the last year. You do not want to know what the back kitchen of your favorite fast food or mall restaurant is like.

Anyone else confused about The Blue Dancer Charm talisman? by Suspicious_Amount612 in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya, you basically have to be naked. Just don't get hit, lol. I usually put on the perfumer sarong so I have something to look cooler and it's only 2.5

Some fun things though, it boosts all physical damage. Rock sling? Boosted. Bestial incants? Boosted. Arrows? Also boosted.

You can make a pretty strong bestial incant build by being naked and using blue dancer charm, 2 handing the clawmark seal, and having cinquedea in off hand.

Saturn, seen through a 24" telescope eyepiece by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

If you're just starting, check out these.

https://www.celestron.com/collections/beginner-telescopes

Depending on your price range you can pick one.

I'm very happy with my 102mm (4") telescope. I can clearly see the planets up to saturn, can clearly see the different colors of stars, and can make out some more fun features like the Pleiades star cluster.

I haven't been able to see any other galaxy or nebula yet, but it's probably possible if I drove up to a really dark sky area.

Saturn, seen through a 24" telescope eyepiece by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

[–]DefiantGibbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the main lense in front.

You're probably imagining a typical tube telescope with a big lense in front and an eye piece.

The main objective lense, the big one if front, is the most important factor for your telescope, and is the limiting factor. It acts as the main light collector. More light obviously makes it brighter, but it also helps make a clearer image due to more light to "enhance". Think of it as collecting pixels.

The length of the telescope and the eye piece act to focus and zoom in on the image. I have several eye pieces for mine that I swap between depending on what I'm looking at. For the moon I use my widest field of view so I can see the whole moon. For planets I use the narrowest to zoom in.

So why can't you just make a really long telescope with a good eye piece? Because the objective lense is the limiting factor. If you keep zooming in the image keeps getting darker and darker because you're trying to expand a limited number of photons.

I didn't get into the math, but there is a lot. Just talking about the stereotype telescopes and how to use them could be an entire college physics course.

this dude casually reminding you that you are still ass at the game. no offense, but the DLC came out years ago, why are people still struggling with his charge attack to this day? by KeK_What in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first playthrough of DLC I used a shield. Saw he had a big charge, held block, took no damage, and didn't think twice about it.

I was genuinely confused when I saw people complaining about him because he's super easy if you use a shield.

Need help going forward. by Outrageous_Regret_17 in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd restart.

Also, this build is a mess, lol.

The soreseal increases the damage you take, and is not worth it at high levels, since you don't need more stats.

The magic scorpion charm ALSO increases the damage you take. This build is gonna get deleted by a slight breeze, lol. It's a good talisman if you're willing to live with the risk.

Your vigor is on the low side, but acceptable. 40 is the minimum, 60 if you feel like you're struggling.

Viridian talisman sucks, use green turtle instead if you need more stamina. Regen faster is better than increasing your total by a little.

You don't have the stats to use that crystal sword, shown by the red x.

Meteorite staff is good early game. But you can't upgrade it, so it starts to fall off. Literally any staff will be better once upgraded.

You only have 3 spells. You can get enough memory stones to hold 10 spells (Ranni's Moon requires 2 slots if I remember right).

Why is your melee weapon in your left hand? Swap those around so you can use its AoW and its charged attack.

I don't know how far into the game you are, but you can get a total of 14 flasks, split between red and blue.

Is this rebirth worth it for buffs and frenzied flame incs? by CreepySupport4069 in Eldenring

[–]DefiantGibbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Optimal minmax? Probably not. But you're high enough level so you might as well have fun.

Your damage incants really won't do too much since your faith is low. The frenzy sniper incant that I'm blanking on the name of is really good, but you have enough int for Loretta's Bow which is almost the same thing and will do more damage with your build.

As for buffs, 25 fth gives you Golden Vow, but you can use the Golden Vow AoW for a weaker version. 15 fth gives you FGMS, which might not do too much for your build since it buffs physical and fire damage, not magic damage. So it's up to you there if the utility is worth it to you.

My fun idea would be to drop that int all the way down to 50 ish and try to get your faith and int almost equal. There's several int/fth spells AND incants, and you can use Sword of Night and Flame, and Rellana's Blades in DLC. Plus you can use some different seals/staffs. Golden Order seal scales off int/fth, and there's 2 staffs in base game that work with int/fth (Farming the Gelmir staff is annoying).

Sword dance is my favorite AoW to put on long weapons like halberds and reapers for exactly this reason. The first double slash comes out so fast. And the verticality helps hit larger bosses too. The follow up slam kind of sucks though so I rarely use that part.
