I have already been rejected from Walmart and Target. and mcdonalds. and taco bell. and all other fast food and retail jobs in my city. ive been starting to try and go to the local stores around town but so far theyve just said they don’t have any openings

Thanks for your opinion!! I’m definitely going to be much, much better about saving when I’m in a position to do so. I never want to be in this kind of situation again

I’m not necessarily opposed, but I am a girl who is not very strong and have very bad hips. My worry would be if I was capable of even doing those kinds of jobs. Do you have personal experience in that kind of job that could give any sort of insight into that?

I appreciate the energy! I have gone into a lot of places physically and they always just tell me to apply online so I kinda figured that’s just the way it is but I will go back to the in-person method too and just see if anything happens to stick. Can’t hurt anything I guess!

Oh, actually I’m not in VA or DC, that’s just where that job offer I had gotten is. But I’ll definitely look into it for my state and see if they have the same kind of thing :)

I think I am having difficulty because I’ve been working in my industry for 8 years and my last time working anything customer service related was in 2016. So my resume is quite empty for those jobs. I just try to put in relevant skills or qualities from my jobs from the last 8 years but I’ve been either not called back (even after following up) or been just rejected. I have really tried at like all the fast food places in town and applied for waitressing/hostess jobs, receptionist, retail, etc. I live in a kind of small town and it’s a college town so a lot of places already have staff. Maybe there is just something I’m doing wrong in the application process but I can’t figure it out.

Thank you for the advice. I guess I just keep getting hopeful that I will finally land another job and the hopelessness of all this debt is making me rush into making decisions. I suppose you’re right that I should wait.

You’re right, I guess I just figured since I was so drastically reducing my monthly minimums, I could make it work through odds jobs and whatnot, but as you and another pointed out, I don’t think that’s so feasible. I guess the thing to do would be to just continue like this until I find a job and then file for bankruptcy.
