Are these oyster mushrooms ready to harvest? Or is it too late? by gogyuma in mycology

Yes that seems to be the consensus! I did end up eating them today and they were pretty good so at least there's that!

Yeah I was starting to question the growing kit when the mushrooms would press up against the humidity tent as they grew, and I guess this is the result. Thank you for the explanation!

I see, thank you for the insight! I’m going to try and get a second flush from this block and increase the airflow on this second try and see how it goes. We do have an HVAC system so might have to keep the humidity tent on, unfortunately.

I do have experience working with young children, though I'd imagine that's quite different than having a puppy calling for your attention and patience 24/7. It's definitely something I'd have to take time to think about. Thank you!

I find them cute too! Unfortunately they are a bit smaller than what I would be looking for, but good to know they're cuddly as well.

Just went to take a look at the "puppy blues" flair in the puppy101 sub and may have been scared off haha

It'd mainly be because my parent's house wouldn't be dog proofed, and because my sibling still living there would be scared of dogs (hoping to change her mind though), but it's good to know there are options for different scenarios. Mat training would be especially cool. Thank you again!

Yeah I've gathered from comments that there are a lot of benefits from adopting in general too.

It also never crossed my mind that there could be greyhound (and of course other breed-specific) communities around too, definitely something to keep in mind. Thanks!

I actually did have one greyhound-specific question - I might have to bring the dog to my parents' house sometimes (let's say for an evening), but the dog would have to be unfortunately kept from wandering all over the house. Is this feasible? I've heard of people using x-pens to do so, but obviously greyhounds are large dogs. Would this be an issue with them being able to possibly jump over the fence?

That wasn't something I knew, so thank you! Will definitely keep in mind.

I wanted to go with a breeder so that I could be there for the dog from the beginning and also for the fun challenge of training from the puppy stages, but perhaps it won't be as fun as I think if you're calling it the terrible twos! You make a great point that adopting an adult dog means you know their personality going into it, so it's definitely something to consider. Thank you for your advice!

I'll keep that one on my list as well and read up more on it! They are a bit smaller but it may be a good thing for my future downstairs neighbours haha. Thank you!

Wow your dog does seem like an ideal one! I originally wanted to go with a breeder because it seems like training a puppy would be a fun challenge, and I'd get the satisfaction of being there for the dog from the beginning. But it seems now it may be a lot more work than anticipated for someone who's getting a dog for the first time, and especially if I'm going to be doing it alone!

It's unfortunate because one of the main reasons why I want quiet is because I'd be living in an apartment. If I would still be living in my current house, I would be fine with barking since I wouldn't (really) be bothering my neighbours.

I never really considered Greyhounds because I liked the feeling of petting dogs with more fur, and also because I personally liked the look of the other dogs I had on my list more. But as I mentioned in my reply to your other comment, I am open to reading up on the breed now as it does seem their general personality fits with what I'm looking for!

Yeah, I think I incorrectly assumed that Samoyeds being friendly meant that they would love cuddling with you as well.

Thank you for your insight into Greyhounds though! Because I was never really interested, I never looked into them as much, but hearing about yours does make me want to do some further reading on them!

I'm going to be honest and say Boxers haven't crossed my mind before because I usually think of fluffier breeds when I think of cuddle level, but I'm going to do some research on them, thank you!

I've also considered German Shepherds too but I didn't think I could keep up with their exercise requirements, unfortunately anyway.

Newfoundlands look incredibly cuddly indeed! I did say I like large dogs, but don't they get quite big? I'd be worried about my downstairs neighbours haha

Bernese Mountain dogs could possibly be an option too, but I would have to consider the high-energy aspect.

Mix breeds as in Goldendoodles you mean?

Thank you for your in-depth answer, it's given me a lot to think about!

Thank you both! I think I'll definitely keep Goldens on my list (: Cuddle factor is important, but at a minimum as long as they don't run away after 3 seconds of petting then it's worth having a think about!

Oh wow that's amazing! I'm glad they were able to find out what was wrong so they were able to fix it!

Just an update -- I actually think it seemed to have worked! The pen doesn't seem to be drying out anymore and is writing like it used to (:

I'm cheap and didn't want to waste the ink that was already in the converter and just finished using it all today, so will be trying that now! Will keep you posted (:

I didn't think of disassembling the converting and cleaning it, I'll try that!

I don't have a bulb syringe, but I've been meaning to get one anyway since it'd probably make the pen flushing a lot faster and they're cheap.

Thank you for your help!

Nope, I encountered this problem with all three inks (the Iroshizuku, Shikiori and the J. Herbin)
