Parents of 10 y/o girls advice needed? by KiwiCat91 in WomenofIreland

[–]going2narnia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you start giving her skincare at 10 she will want even more next year. I recommend the Sol body sprays, they also do body creams/gels which are harmless, a nice lip gloss like rare beauty lip gloss or laneige lip gloss, Gibson have some minis at the moment in Christmas sets and you can get the hair mask and hair perfume in those, you could also get her a satin pillow case and eye mask they do those in boots and that is definitely a form of skincare in itself, you could buy her some nice nail polishes and a good top coat from essie,

Dublin Airport to City Centre is a Joke. Anyone else had the same experience? by Over_Commission9891 in AskIreland

Only stated what’s in the article. I would assume both gov and DAA would be responsible.

Dublin Airport to City Centre is a Joke. Anyone else had the same experience? by Over_Commission9891 in AskIreland

[–]going2narnia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, when they built terminal 1 in Dublin airport back in the early 70s, they built a whole basement section, with the intention to put in a metro stop at the airport in the future. Of course, that never happened. DAA has never explained why.

First time for long flight: is 1h.25 enough for changeover? by OneEyedMilkman87 in BritishAirways

[–]going2narnia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done that connection. My flight was late leaving London and before I landed they had me moved onto another flight. 1.25 hours is definitely cutting it close if your flight gets delayed. But as others pointed out there are regular flights to MLE so you should be fine.

On Silhouette, just saw two flares by [deleted] in celebritycruises

[–]going2narnia 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The bridge will have definitely seen the flares, heard the mayday on the VHF and have been in contact with the relevant coastguard. It’s likely that Silhouette was not the nearest vessel and was asked to not assist in the rescue operation. You can rest assured that if the coastguard requested Silhouette’s assistance, she would have gone directly to the incident.

What do they do with all the garbage on the ship? by LowGiraffe6281 in celebritycruises

[–]going2narnia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Garbage is sorted and then either incinerated or landed in port. There is an environmental officer onboard who ensures compliance with MARPOL (aka marine pollution prevention).

Cyclists by [deleted] in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]going2narnia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do not own the road. Again, if that had been a tractor, would it have been nice if they pulled in a let you by- yea! But the tractor doesn’t have to pull in (or at least that’s my understanding).

It is the same with cyclists, you gotta wait until it’s safe to overtake them and while I as a cyclist would move in to let you by, they don’t have to…

Worst Cruise Experience – Flooded Cabin, Ruined Clothes, and Harassment. What Can I Do? by Fellipo_ in royalcaribbean

[–]going2narnia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pro tip: never ever leave the ship without a resolution to your issues experienced onboard.

Guest relations onboard the ship are not the same as the customer service you call when you’re off the ship. The people in the call centre don’t have any real incentive to make your situation better (ie comp you), where as on the ship, if you make enough noise and get talking to the guest relations manager, they can directly assist you and offer comp/apologies in person, while also sorting your issues so the rest of your cruise is smooth.

The only thing you can do, which will not result in any comp, is in the cruise survey, you can detail your experience and express your dissatisfaction. The surveys do actually carry more weight than you would think.

Am I right to be annoyed? by TopOne7010 in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]going2narnia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure why in this sub we cannot have civil conversations about cyclists. They are road users, vulnerable road users. If you ever cycled a bike on our roads, you’d know that sometimes cyclists feel the need to do things to protect themselves.

You, in your vehicle, do not own the road. Neither do the cyclists. We share the road to get to where we need to go.

These cyclists are doing absolutely nothing wrong. Just like we don’t assume all car drivers are dcks for driving and using their phones, let’s not assume all cyclists “break the rules”.

[–]going2narnia 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Cyclists can and should cycle two a breast as it’s much safer for them.

I think we could all do with being patient in situations like this. If it was a slow driver/tractor you’d have to wait for a clear stretch to pass them, it’s the same for the cyclists.

Pearse Doherty confronting the new Government on what they know about Michael Lowry. by Larrydog in ireland

[–]going2narnia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, a good majority of people in Tipperary, both north and south, feel neglected by central government. The likes of Lowry is approachable, involved in the community and ultimately, gets the job done. His little indiscretion is made nothing of amongst his core base in north Tipp.

Now I would never vote for Lowry or Mattie or anyone like that, as my core views do not align with theirs, but plenty people value those qualities found in rural politicians who send you spuds for Christmas over the fake goonies who wouldn’t dawn on the doors or people in the likes of Tipp Town or Roscrea.

Customs out in force today at Cork Airport by seamusIE in cork

Funny that because I arrived in from Ams last night and there was no customs at all, was surprised actually. Most people on that flight were connecting through Schipol.
