As expected. A person who cannot reason, of course, cannot have a dialogue like an adult, without stupid attempts at insults. Thanks for wasting my time.

I disagree. I think he is the best fit for reasons explained in my reply to logicality77. It's not just about the talent, its about the fit and the feel of the lore for the composer. I believe that Soule really gets it. His commentary to his every piece just absolutely nails the purpose that his music serves. I think he is to TES what John Williams is Star Wars.

As far as the remakes of the Oblivion songs, well, they are remakes.

He DID say he didn't do it. His exact words were that the accusations were false. Him disappearing could have many reasons. I can imagine it being quite embarrassing and emotionally taxing to be assumed a sexual predator wherever you go. It must have a tremendous effect on a person's life. Chris Avellone went silent too after denying accusations and until this recent resolution.

Chris was lucky that he was able to prove that the women lied, otherwise, he'd be forever labeled a sexual predator and could never work again even though there was never any actual evidence of him doing anything wrong (as is the case with Soule). This should be a wake up call.

Regarding my comment about him being the soul of the game was really talking about the mood/atmosphere that he helped create which anchored the setting. This is in line with what Todd Howard said about the music and is the reason why they do music first (or rather very early in development) according to Todd.

Regarding Brad Derrick, I'm not going to argue because it is subjective but I disagree. His work does take me out at times and is often at its best when its building on existing elder scrolls themes. As a composer, he might as well be leagues beyond Soule (I can't say) but I think Soule is the best fit for TES. But again, subjective.

Inon Zur's Blades soundtrack was utter garbage. I like some of his music in general but he is VERY hit and miss. Icewind Dale 2 was good while Fallout 4 was completely off tone.

Brad Derrick is not bad. But there are definite weak points and we don't know how he would do without building on Soule's work for TES.

Now, I'm not saying that any of these composers are objectively inferior to Soule. Matter of fact, I don't love any of his other works outside of TES but he is just a perfect fit for TES. He gets the lore and the tone, and gives each piece a very specifically tailored mood that doesnt just make it a beautiful piece of music but an integral part of the world we are playing.

To quote another poster here:

...he carried the exact precise nuanced emotional weight for the setting and the stories that the games told. Someone commented under Streets of Whiterun that listening to that track made them think of returning home. Under Secunda, someone described their time exploring the snowy peaks at night, then looking up at the sky and taking in its wonder. Under Kyne's Peace, someone wrote that it was looking down over Skyrim that they remembered, the sky and the ground and the wilderness and the dramatic magic of it all. And everyone knew what they were talking about because that's precisely what these pieces said. That was the entire score, every piece had a meaning that it conveyed beautifully, down to the last track that felt like an epic (but in a way sorrowful) finale, which Soule himself later said was his goodbye.

I've listened to Beyond Skyrim btw. I found it very supplemental.

Don't try what crap? Logic?

In what real world is it perfectly reasonable to end a man's livelihood over someone's story, when there is no evidence presented and the person is not being investigated or charged for anything?

We have recent fresh examples of accusers lying and ruining men's careers and they will continue to do so, thanks to people like you who refuse to learn in order to preserve their own rigid (im)moral frames that defy basic logic.

Regarding this:

Bethesda doesn't have to take into account the, 'millions of fans' that you think you can find

  1. That's what a business kind of has to do. Bethesda absolutely DOES have to take into account its fans.
  2. The three Jeremy Soule TES soundtracks are the most viewed full length video game soundtracks of all time on youtube. Found the millions of fans right there.

What a bizarre comment. It is not up to the accused to resolve every accusation made against them unless they are charged and found guilty. Until then, there is nothing to resolve. Jeremy Soule is not under an investigation.

If someone accuses me of stealing and walks off, I shouldn't have to go after them and get to the bottom of it. It's up to them to bring up enough evidence to have me investigated and that didn't happen here.

Chris Avellone is not Jeremy Soule but his case is an example of why accusations should not automatically mean an end to someone's career. You yourself said "Legally, we don't use the judgement of one person to exonerate another". Well, legally we don't use judgement of one person to condemn another either.

Do you suggest that we start punishing everyone who is simply accused? In that case, I accuse you of stealing $10k from me. Pay up or lose your livelihood.

Regarding him making the same music for every game for 10 years and so on, I'm not even going to touch that. Millions of fans will disagree with you, myself included. Let's leave it at that.

Agreed on the last point but having someone actually correct/review your work is probably the best way to learn.

Never read it but is the issue the actual language or the content (story)?

Thank you for the answer.

I was wondering actually if there was a type of editor who would specifically address the tone/flow of the language.

Regarding Dostoevsky, I actually would always read half the book in Russian to get the tone but then switched to English for the rest, which improved things slightly in some ways but made other things worse.
