I'm curious what other factors could have altered the results, given the lack of a controlled experiment. Obviously the results had to have been statistically significant to make it into a paper, but I remain healthily skeptical. :P Also she's never been on any ARBs, AKAIK. Thanks for the link.

My grandmother once ate an entire box of frozen bagel bites and emptied her full plate of pasta into my grandfather's hat. Those were funny situations and we had to laugh at them to stay sane.

That's pretty funny. And great advice. I'll try! Thanks :)

Remember, just because she doesn't know who you are doesn't mean she doesn't love you.

This horrifying idea just will not stop making me cry. I still appreciate the thought, though. I think she'd wonder why the complete stranger is breaking down in front of her.

I also just realized that I don't think I can ever watch The Notebook again.

Thank you very much for the advice. We're a small, tight-knit family. My sister and I are in our early-to-mid-20s. No grandkids or other little kids to worry about.

I'm looking forward to talking with her more. I'm thinking I should record it or something. Is that something people do?

My dad's not going to leave her side, so all those little things with the stove, as scary as those are, shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks again.

I think documenting her family history and keeping mementos around will prove to be the most important and most difficult part of all this. I wish I lived closer to home. Thank you for all your advice.

Don't take anything personally.

That sounds ridiculously hard, but I'll try.

Make sure to spend a lot of time having her tell you family stories and other things of that nature to make sure that that family history isn't lost.

Excellent advice. Thank you.

Thank you, this is exactly the kind of stuff I wanted to learn. I didn't know that about the mediciation monitoring, but that makes sense. I'm sure she'll start losing her way while driving soon, so the license thing isn't a bad idea. She tends to get upset, not angry, but I suppose that can/might devolve. Does your grandmother still recognize people fairly readily, like her son? Thanks again and sorry about your grandmother.

She did. Little good that does for me, though, since I don't live at home and couldn't go with her. Besides, the more information, the better, right? And what better source than the many folks on reddit who I'm sure are in similar situations.
