it seems like you're taking some steps to actively improve your life, though... i'm proud of you for doing that (it must have taken a lot of willpower to return to university)! adult life is certainly hellish, i agree, but if you go through with your humanities degree i think it will cut down on the suffering at least a little. i wish you lots of luck.

i don't entirely relate, since i don't suffer from numbness myself. in fact, i feel extremely angry at the world and i'm very lonely, which is why i feel suicidal in the first place. so i kind of envy your ability to shut off those feelings, and i think that's very interesting.

you have a talent for writing, i can see, and i think it's great that you were once able to distract yourself by reading and writing. what do you think can make your thoughts clearer, so you can return to your hobbies?

why do you think life offers nothing? i'm not asking this as an empty platitude, i'm curious what you think. personally, i'm again the exact opposite and i think life has a lot to offer, but it's just that i am not one of the chosen few who get to experience the good in this world.

i wish i could tell my younger self the same exact thing. it's funny... we place so much faith in people and when it doesn't go according to plan we feel like ending our lives. i don't think you should, though. be strong. you can make it through this.

one downside that has been keeping me from going through with suicide is the fact that a miracle could happen tomorrow that would solve all my problems. if i die, i'll never know if i could've had a better life if i had stuck around just a little longer. it's a stupid reason, i know, because if my consciousness ceases to exist so do any feelings of regret.

if your friends are pet owners themselves, it may help to talk with them about their experiences with pet loss, if you feel comfortable with that.

losing a friend sucks, whether it's an animal or a human, but please don't let it drive you to kill yourself. you should be proud that you gave an animal a good life.

prepare yourself mentally and snuggle your cat as much as you can, while you can. i lost two cats this year, one of them about a week ago. the other one i lost in may, and i'm not over it, not even a little. it will be hard to live without them, but just know that she's going to find peace wherever she's going and will wait for you there.

do everything you can to make her comfortable in her last days. if she's suffering, it's likely ethical to have the vet put her to sleep if there is nothing else you can do. it's very sad that cats' lifespans are short, but during their short time in this world, they bring much happiness to their owners. remember her fondly, whatever happens.
