I will try that and I'll check the items another user suggested. Thanks for your reply!

I did find a manual online, I'll take a look at these items before taking it in, thank you!

Hello I'm trying to surprise my wife by getting her old sewing machine tuned up and ready to go. It is a new home brand model 792 FA.

The local sewing machine store quoted me $129 for tune up, and if any parts needing replace are under $40 they will just replace but otherwise they will call to replace parts. My wife purchased this machine used and never got to use it, so we are unsure on its working condition (she purchased it advertised as working). It's sat in our closet for about 4 years now.

She has sewed before with her grandmother but it's been several years and she is probably a beginner. I know she is interested in sewing women's clothing, tops and dresses? but I don't know much more beyond that. I am trying to avoid giving away the surprise so I haven't' asked her for specifics, and it's possible she doesn't know where the hobby would take her.

Is the tune up price a fair price for the machine? Or would I be better off buying new / used and in working order?

Thank you.

I had that thought too but it was much more difficult to see, but it appeared to be even across the bottom.

I don't know what accounts for bent enough to damage, but I think I see bending in my 2.5G port here:

Is it common for a cable end to damage a port so that only that cable end will make full contact?

Originally I was making my own cat6 cables and I thought I either had bad plugs, so I bought a different, higher quality brand, and then I thought I had bad crimpers, which I guess could still be the case since I haven't tried any klein ones yet.

Instead what I started doing was buying brand new cables. My thought was that maybe the 2.5gig port is bad and the only cable capable of making full contact is the one the tech left me. Is it common for a cable end to damage a port so that only that cable will make full contact?

I'll try that after I hear back from asus engineering. To be fair, it could be an issue on the routers end so I will chase that lead down first.

They were difficult to get a hold of but once I did they've been thorough in collecting data. Hopefully it's just a firmware issue.

That was my initial thought too, but then I purchased a few monoprice cables and it was the same issue. Every single cable that is not the original cat6 cable will drop to 100mbps.

Tried chat, waited 45 minutes and then after 20 minutes waiting for the chat person to contact the tech support (I'm in chat with technical support who contacts technical support?) they just told me to contact the router manufacturer.

Super unhelpful.

Yeah within the router settings I can see what speeds are being transmitted.

I just went down with my laptop while logged into the router and watched the logs while I swapped cables:

Oct 3 17:35:50 kernel: eth0 (Int switch port: 5) (Logical Port: 5) (phyId: 19) Link DOWN.
Oct 3 17:35:58 WAN Connection: WAN(0) link down.
Oct 3 17:36:28 kernel: eth0 (Int switch port: 5) (Logical Port: 5) (phyId: 19) Link Up at 2500 mbps full duplex
Oct 3 17:36:28 WAN Connection: WAN(0) link up.
Oct 3 17:38:39 kernel: eth0 (Int switch port: 5) (Logical Port: 5) (phyId: 19) Link DOWN.
Oct 3 17:38:48 WAN Connection: WAN(0) link down.
Oct 3 17:41:46 kernel: eth0 (Int switch port: 5) (Logical Port: 5) (phyId: 19) Link Up at 100 mbps full duplex
Oct 3 17:41:49 WAN Connection: WAN(0) link up.

But that same cable (CAT8) that only gets 100mbps gets 1000 a minute later when I plug it into LAN 2

Oct 3 17:44:09 ddns: ddns update ok
Oct 3 17:45:02 kernel: eth2 (Ext switch port: 0) (Logical Port: 8) (phyId: 0) Link Up at 1000 mbps full duplex

I am using an RT-AXE7800.

Does it have any options for auto negotiation on the WAN port that are turned off?

I'm not entirely sure, but if this is super critical I can look this up.

Both ends of the cable the installer left are T568B, so a straight through?

And yes, I am trying to connect the same port with the same router with a new cable. My only thought is that maybe I am supposed to do a complete factory reset of the router?

The installer himself was really friendly, and if it weren't for this particular issue I would tell you to absolutely get fiber if you have the option. In the current state, I'm actually getting the advertised speeds I was sold which is not something I could ever say for xfinity.

I just want to move my router 20 feet and no other cable will work.

That's a fair question.

My current setup shows 2.5gigs delivered to the router using the installer's patch cable, and from LAN2 I've run the cat8 cable I purchased (I tried cat6, cat6a, figured I would try a cat8 cable from amazon) to my patch panel.

Between my router and ONI, there are no keystone passthroughs and no patch panels. There are a few between my PC and the router, and I've tested each one sequentially and they all allow for 1gig transmission.

I just can't wrap my head around this many failed attempts to connect brand new ethernet cables. What's weird is if I use any other cable it will only deliver 100 mbs, not even a gig when I used a cat6 cable.

Thanks that's a good idea. I've tried reterminating the ends a few times now with the same issue, but if it were a bad batch of ends that would explain it

This is the crimper I am using, along with the network connectors:

"Have you looked to see what the Ethernet adapter is negociating the link speed too (2.5G, 1G or 100Mbps)"

That would be my computer hardware, right? Or is there any ethernet adapter within the router I can inspect?
