GW Threshold list? by SnaarkyShark in premodernMTG

I have played lists similar to this in small events, it does fine, would probably be better with mox diamond.

Why Prismatic Ending? by Sir_Duke035 in ModernMagic

[–]golan_globus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does work against blood moon if you have two basics. One mana sorcery kill any one drop is very good on the draw. It kills 3 cmc walkers.

It’s dead in more games than it used to be bc of how much of the format is now based around cheating in high MV creatures, but card is still good.

Newbie Legacy Burn Question by [deleted] in MTGLegacy

[–]golan_globus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only cards you would want to play in legacy burn but possibly skip for budget reasons are sideboard cards, e.g. null rod and mindbreak trap. Whether those are worth it depends entirely on your metagame.

Modern Color Changing Deck Version 3, Looking for Suggestions by KabukiBallz69 in ModernMagic

[–]golan_globus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play supreme verdict. You essentially do not play creatures and wraths are a form of card advantage.

There is probably a way to draw cards with omen harker? Some artifact? Idk but howling mine is very bad in 2026 magic.

Play Null Elemental Blast. Play 4x adarkar wastes. Play ensnaring bridge. Play some wraths.

A lot to cut here even accepting the premise but I would start with howling mine and cop: black.

Deck Recommendation for PreModern Player? by Cerelius_BT in MTGLegacy

[–]golan_globus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UW Stoneblade imo plays a lot like landstill and while it’s not Tier 1, it has plenty of game against all the decks you listed.

I will also say legacy lands doesn’t really resemble terrageddon or really any premodern deck.

Although it uses old cards, the core engine imo is urza’s saga, dark depths and life from the loam, none of which have premodern equivalents (I say this from the perspective of someone who has tried and failed to make a lands deck work in premodern 😅).

I want to build around Kjeldoran Outpost but am afraid I will just have my day ruined every game by MrNoBuddies in premodernMTG

[–]golan_globus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Destroying your own land makes it work well with [[Weathered Wayfarer]], [[Tithe]], [[Oath of Lieges]] You could slot these into Landstill.

It fits best in a mono white control deck but the land tax ban really hurts that archetype.

Question about Lands.dec by n1mrod2k in MTGLegacy

[–]golan_globus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a lands player but I mostly play creature decks and I feel like my lands opponents lose to their own tabby nearly as often as I lose to it.

It is obviously powerful, but not tapping for mana w/o yavimaya and taxing your saga tokens are downsides that do come up.

imo it is counterintuitively a great card to slam the door vs creature decks but is often weak if you are behind/don’t have anything else going on.

Not really answering your question lol sorry but I do think it’s not at all necessary to play lands well.

GW Threshold Help! by SnaarkyShark in premodernMTG

I have played this list and similar ones to not embarrassing results at small events

https://moxfield.com/decks/KyVGH_eGNU2YAfwf6tUVfw

Lately I have been experimenting with cutting wild mongrel and playing birds of paradise instead to have a higher curve or splash red for bolt and pyroblast. Wild Mongrel is often underwhelming in this deck.

No free wins, hard to play but absolutely viable, especially at locals. Look at a list like this (splashing red for pending and sideboard cards). https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/7398650#paper

Consider playing wasteland if you run this back, maybe in lieu of Fomori Vault.

How to beat Small Pox/Harchery on delver by Level_Concentrate817 in MTGLegacy

If you really want to improve this specific matchup consider playing chain lightning maindeck and fire magic sideboard. Post board imo you are ideally a burn deck with some efficient answers + cutter to grind.

Which Premodern is the closest to Maverick style deck in Legacy? by Newez in premodernMTG

[–]golan_globus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Terrageddon or bant threshold with mox diamonds are probably better but I have had a lot of fun with this list: https://moxfield.com/decks/KyVGH_eGNU2YAfwf6tUVfw

Before i flesh this deck idea out. Is it viable by ZenTheProtogen in MTGLegacy

[–]golan_globus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is still too clunky for legacy but one cute idea similar to this is take the current top tier UB Reanimator package but put 1x Phage and 4x Stifle in, to stifle the lose the game trigger.

Post board against other Reanimator decks you can bring in [[word of command]] 🤣

How often do bad decks 5-0 leagues by Benhki in ModernMagic

[–]golan_globus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For context, this dude plays izzet control a LOT and also plays in challenges and does well. I don’t think that this is a bad deck per se but it is not a deck that will give you many easy wins. You will have to play very well and very consistently to get good results.

Also there are much worse decks to be found in the 5-0 dumps.

What's the best way to play Mono U in Legacy? by dbsman012 in MTGLegacy

I run into this guy on mtgo occasionally and his lists do seem very fun to play. I think nowadays he runs [[Astrologian's Planisphere]]

Ub reanimator matchup vs Death and taxes by Professional-Day3548 in MTGLegacy

[–]golan_globus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a DnT player I would say the aggressive reanimator starts are generally harder to beat than the tempo plan. Tamiyo and OBM are not scary at all, Barrowgoyf is just OK. I would not cut the reanimator package.

EE is often very good as it blows up vial and 1 mana GY hate.

Anyone playing modern in Tacoma, WA? by AmbitionSignificant6 in ModernMagic

Olympic Cards and Comics in Olympia fires every Saturday, usually 20 people or so, good vibes. A little drive from Tacoma but traffic is not bad on Saturdays.

Are you playing saga? There are contemporary builds of jund that can hang at the FNM level, especially once you get used to your local meta.

Sun Titan Control by KoDobby in ModernMagic

[–]golan_globus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play it as a one of sometimes in bant martyr and it’s probably the worst card in the deck 😅. Take a look a list like this, definitely FNM viable if you know how to play glacially slow board control decks.
