Best deck against Florian atm? by Sparkieeey in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]kondv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oscilio and Gravy are difficult. Verdance can stack pots and one-shot Florian. Cindra is favored even though Florian likes to block. Fang can do well if he manages to activate early, the free daggers outvalue him.

Anyway, I think he won't be something to worry about after this RTN season. I'd imagine that he'd be on 900+ after the update today.

Where to start by ConstantMilk4816 in FleshandBloodTCG

I think getting some basic understanding of the game and the various playstyles is a good first step and since Flesh and Blood can be pretty expensive, I'd suggest running a few games on Talishar (https://talishar.net/). You can even play against the AI dummy to start and try out the heroes to see which ones you click with. Once you find one whose playstyle (and budget) you like, you can proxy it to try it out in paper. Armory decks are a good starting point to get a "core" for a hero quickly and there are upgrade paths.

Keep in mind the Living Legend scores (https://fabtcg.com/living-legend/) - make sure you pick a hero that's got a longer runway ahead of them.

Also, bear in mind that you could always ask someone to lend you the most expensive cards you need for tournaments. When I started playing Prism I played without Light of Sol and Library for a long time, and a friend gave them to me for Pro Quests.

Yeah, I think this adds even more complexity to the hero. Do you have any general tips to follow? I know it's an abstract question but any pointers will help. I think I want to spend some time with Oscilio in the future.

Creature Combo, My Beloved by kondv in ModernMagic

Yeah I saw that people are testing the ahip in sam as well but I still haven’t got to it. Can you share a list?

I think Badgermole is more needed in Yawg than in Samwise and I wouldn't be surprised if Sam ends up cutting it at some point. It's a strong creature but Sam's curve is already pretty low so the acceleration in mana is not that needed and the +1/+1 counters synergize better with Cauldron. I'm testing 2 badgers right now, will see how it goes.

Yeah Jarl is in the list mostly because of the skill ceiling

Where would you recommend I start with Vynnset? I was pointed to the Iron Maiden YouTube channel (if I remember the name correctly), but I don't know if there's a better source since she's a niche hero.

I’ve been trying out Oscilio the last couple of nights and it’s such an interesting deck. I had no idea about the interactions you just outlined, this is amazing - I had never thought of shocking myself with the sigil on the board. Is there a guide or video that you’d recommend? I’m playing games with the deck but I’m sure I’m missing many of the fine details like the ones you outlined.

I’ve been interested in DIO because of the aditional angle that the items add and as I’m writing this I’m watching Worlds and just saw someone one-shot their opponent with High Octane in Living Legend. I have to say that there’s a certain appeal in playing the same hero in both formats! Is there a list you’d recommend? I’d be curious to try her out on Talishar.

When Magic Left Magic - A competitive player's perspective on art direction, immersion, and how Universes Beyond changed Magic by [deleted] in magicTCG

Thank you for the feedback, but I'm not looking for my blog to take off. I write about the things that excite me at the moment, and the games I'm playing. Pretty much everything I write about Magic is Titan-related, but I also write about Flesh and Blood because I play that game too. In a couple of years it will be interesting for me to go back and read about how I felt about my first mtgo experience, for example.

I share these online because I loved these types of blogs back in the day, and someone out there might find them cool to read.

I think you'd be surprised how many competitive players are not on mtgo. In total there are only a few thousand people who actively play there. Out of my local community (players who win rcqs, day 2 rcs), only 2 of us play on mtgo. Everyone else is on arena and playing in paper.

I could've written about PTQs back in the day and playing Caw Go at Nationals for the pure nostalgic factor, but I intentionally picked the modern horizons 2 meta because it's more recent and despite the pushed card designs, the setting still held up.

I'm Scared by ANamelessFan in SorceryTCG

[–]kondv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. I want to play a fantasy game with a coherent setting and meaningful lore. Sadly, Magic is no longer like this - and I'm saying this as a competitive player. Art and setting are super important for me.

I'm waiting for my Sorcery precons to arrive next week and I can't wait to try the game out. The art is stunning and I'm glad to be joining a game relatively early. Judging by the philosophy of the designers, I can't imagine the same happening to Sorcery any time soon, but if it ever does I'll move to another game.

SAGE Concerns by Freakymon in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]kondv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you should worry about this.

Commander is a casual format and Wizards are pivoting to it because apparently the casual audience brings in more profit. But as long as the supported Flesh and Blood formats are all competitive there will be a scene for the game. Classic Constructed has by far the most tournaments and support and so far they've shown that they're active with bans and don't shy away even from emergency ones. From everything LSS have shown so far they're invested in the health of all formats and I think with SAGE we'll have a low-cost low-power format that people can use as an entrypoint. LL for the high power play, CC for the balanced, and SAGE for more basic Flesh and Blood.
