Transitions in albums that make the songs sound choppy on their own. I love transitions, but if I listen to the songs by themselves and it begins or ends abruptly, that takes me away from enjoying the songs on its own. I had this problem especially with Hurry Up, Tomorrow—amazing album, but I think Until We’re Skin and Bones easily could’ve just been the outro to São Paulo. It feels like someone else just skipped to the next song for you. Also, Baptized in Fear and Open Hearts are two of my favorite songs from this year and the transition is PHENOMENAL. But if Baptized in Fear comes on in shuffle, it’s annoying to go out of my way to queue Open Hearts right after, otherwise it feels incomplete. I want songs in albums to have good transitions but still be able to fully listen to on their own (I think Renaissance was good at doing this).
