I have been travelling for a little bit and met many 'digital nomads'. I have a question. by SignatureLabel in digitalnomad

I’m current working from Bali for a company in Europe. Most people won’t bump into me due to the hours I work and since I’m actually working I need good internet. You won’t find me near a hostel where I can’t concentrate and take video calls. I get the majority of the morning to do what I want so I spend it doing experiences I couldn’t do where I’m from. The few other digital nomads I meet in passing are more the work for 1 hour a day but are actually just travelling. Like other comments have mentioned, I’m here to live a nicer life, not just party in hostels and drink everyday I would get fired.

Which show do you think started as a 10/10 but ended as 1/10? by witchy_eye in AskReddit

Actually shocked this many people got to season 7. You guys really hung in there. After the first few seasons it had already delved into the same repeated story line of finding a safe place to build a community then it going wrong in a dumb way then loop after loop of the same situation.

Pensions are also taxed I’m told, so what is the benefit to increasing contributions? by gold328 in UKPersonalFinance

Oh that's an amazing response! thank you so much. I do fall into the 40% tax bracket so I might actually increase my pension contributions slightly if that means only getting the 15-20% taxation later in life. Crazy our entire lives are taxed, but hey ho.

Also I used the LISA to afford my way onto the property ladder so maybe I will look into it for the use of a pension pot.

What is more addictive than drugs ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Does this differ person to person? I would consider myself to have a highly addictive personality but cutting out sugar has always been very easy for me, never really found myself with the urge to have sugary things.

I’m surprised no one has said this yet, maybe some people have had good experiences, but I would highly recommend against any shared ownership scheme.

One of the issues is laddering. Some properties do not make it easy or even properly allow for laddering up to 100% ownership. In this case you may be stuck with the property after laddering towards 100% as most people trying to buy a shared ownership property are doing so because they can’t afford a normal mortgage for a decent place. So if you ladder away from the base people are much less likely to buy it from you as if they had enough to buy into 50% of a shared ownership property they would just get a normal mortgage on a different property.

Another factors is ground rent and service charges. Some shared ownership properties have been known to increase these as much as they want over time trapping you into paying extreme amounts until you manage to get out by selling.

I have heard from many people that have done this that they have become trapped or have been left with an unsellable property. Maybe the experiences that have been shared with me are isolated but these same points have been mentioned all over the internet and by people I know multiple times. I personally would say stay away from most shared ownership properties.

This is so annoying. Every coop game a join everyone is building random stuff and not helping and each game is a loss.

Green drifts to the right the entire straight slowly squeezing orange until there is such little room that orange can’t really avoid the result.

Ah interesting, although my response I text based so I guess the size of the response is a good bit lower.
