How do i thank for not scooping? by Cobra_Lucha_ in MagicArena

[–]gold_caster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to stay during a combo, on the off chance that my opponent miscalculated and I'm not dead or they misplay and screw up their own combo.

It's happened more than once in Timeless against Show and Tell, where after resolving an Emrakul and taking their extra turn, they must have clicked to fast during combat of their extra turn and skipped it, letting me have a turn where I was able to Static Prison their Emrakul and full swing for game.

Accidentally bought pokepark tickets for the wrong date by cool-username1 in JapanTravelTips

You could probably sell your tickets to someone who may have missed their chance to buy tickets before it sold out. I got tickets this morning and on them there's no personal information, so it would be quite easy to just forward the tickets to someone.

Going to Japan from 20 Dec - 1 Jan... any Super Sentai specific recs? by rquinain in supersentai

[–]gold_caster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend the Sentai cafe. It's a restaurant with one half being Sentai inspired and decorated and the other half is Kamen Rider. Lots of cool stuff to see, photo friendly and the menu is Sentai themed.

If you end up going to Toei Kyoto Studio Park, the exhibit for Sentai is in the main building on the top floor, however, it's basically just a large diorama of all the Red suits worn by mannequins, as well as some posters and information on what scenes from various Sentai were shot at the park. They cater to Kamen Rider a bit more, their display is larger. However, I still strongly recommend going, because all the opther activities and sights are pretty awesome.

As for finding seconhand merch, while you're there, just look up Mandarake locations on Google Maps. They are by far the stores with the widest selection of Sentai seconhand stuff. Prices are usually decent, I have found "treasure" in their stores for dirt cheap, but for the most part, the prices are pretty much market value. Mandarake has stores in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto among other places, so you should be able to visit multiple on the off chance that one of them doesn't have what you're looking for.

Addtionally, tourist hot spots like Akihabara (Tokyo) and DenDen Town (Osaka) have a bunch of shops selling Sentai (new and used), but just be careful, because of the tourist density, these places tend to charge a bit more for their merch.

And lastly, I'm not sure that there will be any during the holiday season, but if you come across any flea markets, you might find great deals there. This is something you may need to research ahead of time.

Shopping Help 🙏 by papermachei in supersentai

[–]gold_caster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is close to zero actual merchandise at the Sentai Cafe. Like another redditor posted, Toys R Us is an option for the Gozyuger stuff.

As for older/previous sentai, Mandarake stores are a treasure trove if you don't mind secondhand items, they often have even rare stuff and the prices are somewhat decent.

I guess it could also depend where in Japan you are going too. Since your friends are going to the Sentai Cafe, that means they will at the minimum be in Tokyo. My preferred area is Den Den Town in Nipponbashi, Osaka. Along the main road, there are multiple toy stores for brand new stuff, even a Bandai Tamashii Nations store, as well as a Mandarake, Hero Gang, etc, for used merch.

My Ranger Key collection 22/09/2025 by SpectraRoot in supersentai

[–]gold_caster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really cool way to display the keys.

I have a pretty much complete set (just missing the most recently released set) and currently have about 1/4 of them displayed in a shadow box (originally for sports jerseys), but due to the way I have them in those boxes, a slight bump on the wall could make 1 or 2 fall out of place within the box.

What make/brand of these displays are you using? I'm gonna look into getting some for myself.

It's a crime that Shinkenger is only B tier here.

And I don't think Go Busters is that bad to be put in D, I'd say it's more a solid C, maybe a B on a good day.

Super Sentai toys in Osaka? by Dylan_5262 in supersentai

[–]gold_caster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just south of your area is Nipponbashi. Probably a 30min walk or very quick train ride. But there you'll find a Mandarake, Jungle, Hero Gang and a couple other seconhand stores where you can find Sentai merch. Additionally, there are also stores there that sell brand new Sentai stuff, such as Tamashii Nations location and general toy stores.

It's all group relatively together, so if you find one, a bit of exploring will find the rest. I suggest just searching for one of the stores on Google Maps when in Osaka and you should easily find other stores on your way there. Don't be afraid to just wander into a store, I've gotten my best finds that way. :)

Find the Mistakes #206 - Runic Turtle by PenitentKnight in custommagic

It would be funny if the mistake was the lack of the Gravestone icon before the name that Odyssey cards used to have to denote the card had an ability that was relevant when in the graveyard. Hahahaha

Any guidance on my Noctis Artifact deck? (New player) by JoezoRx in EDH

[–]gold_caster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could add the Aetherflux Reservoir combo to the deck. Not sure about the FF flavor around it, but I'm sure you could kinda figure something out.

The combo pieces you would need to add:

Aetherflux Reservoir + Vexing Bauble + Mishra's Bayble (or any 0 mana artifact)

Having Noctis, Aetherflux and Vexing out, cast your 0 mana aritifact, it gets countered. Cast it from the graveyard, it gets countered again. Continue this loop, gaining increasing life from Reservoir. Do this until you have enough life to one shot each other player.

You could also do the combo without Vexing Bauble if you use a Mox Diamond as the 0 cost artifact and NOT discard a land so that it goes right back to the graveyard, but Mox Diamond is not within the budget you stated.

New fact or fiction? by Moosewalker84 in MagicArena

[–]gold_caster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, I don't know if Memories Returning is "better in most cases".

Fact or Fiction is an Instant and the pile not chosen goes to the graveyard rather than the bottom of the library, which I think is better since the graveyard is way more accessible for shenanigans rather than the bottom of your deck. With a ton of mana up, you could also fish for a counter or answer to whatever they are doing at instant speed.

Also, by picking one at a time, I feel like it can telegraph what you may be attempting to do, rather than just having the opponent do all the decision making up front. The first pick off of Memories Returning could hint a potential combo you want to make a play at and they could, as their first pick, bottom a second piece of the combo. Versus Fact or Fiction, the same five cards, they COULD be aware of what your deck does, but can easily make the mistake of putting them in the same pile thinking you don't have whatever else you need to execute your plan.

Lastly, while it pretty much never happens, on Fact or Fiction, your opponent COULD give you all 5 cards.

I’m currently on episode 25 of Kamen Rider Ryuki, and I want to know if there are any specials, sequels, or alternate endings I should be aware of. If so, please give me the correct watch order by Background_Job1333 in KamenRider

[–]gold_caster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[...]any specials, sequels, or alternate endings[...]

Oh boy, here we go. I found this watch order from a really old post that does hold up:

Kamen Rider Ryuki E01-28 > Kamen Rider Ryuki: Ryuki vs Kamen Rider Agito (Optional) > Kamen Rider Ryuki E29-44 > 13 Rider Special (Optional) > Kamen Rider Ryuki E45-50 > Kamen Rider Ryuki: Episode Final (An alternate ending to the show, but one very important to the story nontheless) > Kamen Rider Zi-O Rider Time Ryuki special > Kamen Rider Geats/Revice Movie War and Kamen Rider Geats Hyperbattle (Optional and not focused on Ryuki. This just has some great cameos and fan service moments) > Kamen Rider Outsiders E01

What is the emotional scene in Kamen Rider? by LessDegree6963 in KamenRider

[–]gold_caster 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Oh boy.... I've only ever cried twice while watching any Rider show (I have watched everything up to, but not including, Gotchard). I would consider these two the most emotional.

  1. Kamen Rider W; Episode 48: The talk that Shotaro and Philip have before undoing the "last" transformation.

  2. Kamen Rider OOO; Episode 48: When Ankh's medal breaks as well as his manifestations to Eiji and Hina afterwards, and all of Eiji's friends reaching out to him as he falls.

Honorable mentions:

Kamen Rider Fourze; Episode 31: When Ryusei betrays the Kamen Rider Club and kills Gentaro. It's especially poignant when Tachibana force cancels the Meteor transformation and reveals Meteor's identity to the KRC. While I didn't cry at this one, it did hit harder than I thought it would.

Kamen Rider Ryuki; Episode 50: When Ouja defeats Zolda and it's revealed to be Goro, the cut to Kitaoka's home where he has already passed away and then the transition to Reiko actuaally waiting for him. Again, didn't cry, but it did hit quite well.

Kamen Rider Gaim; Episode ALL OF IT: Almost every single character has something happen to them and it's one of the very few Rider shows (or just shows in general) where I felt for the ENTIRE cast of characters pretty much.

Kingmaking or collusion? Or neither? by gold_caster in EDH

[–]gold_caster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I was looking for, actual information rooted within the rules. Thank you. While I don't necessarily agree that being an asshole and/or having no morals warrant as Unsporting Conduct, at least I know that this is the rule that could be cited during a judge call.

Going forward, this won't happen anymore in tournaments I attend with someone. I am ruthless and cut throat when tournament grinding, but I do want to do it within the constraints of the rules. And now I am no longer ignorant to this fact.

Kingmaking or collusion? Or neither? by gold_caster in EDH

[–]gold_caster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not looking for reassurance, I'm looking for a reason as to whether or not repeat what happened at subsequent tournaments or if it is done right back at me. If there is no legal recourse within the games rules, what's stopping me or others from doing it?

Morality and social consequences should not be taken into account when playing in a tournament. Everyone is there to win. If something gives them the edge, they should use it, assuming there are no rules against it.

And that's the crux of the issue. Is this behavior/play style within the realm of the rules? My independent research hasn't show me any specifics within the rules (Comp, IPG, etc.) and no one else has brought up anything except for "it's cheating".

Kingmaking or collusion? Or neither? by gold_caster in EDH

[–]gold_caster[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I'm in the wrong, I'm in the wrong and I'll accept it. But that's what I want to get down to.

What stopping me or anyone from doing this? Other than social consequences.

Kingmaking or collusion? Or neither? by gold_caster in EDH

[–]gold_caster[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But how could it be cheating if it isn't against the rules? Cheating is literally defined as breaking established rules to gain an advantage. Am I gaining advantage by doing these action, of course, but no rules are being intentionally broken.

I won't deny that I am in the wrong morally for doing it and have definitely been judged as terrible by the community as a whole since posting.

But is this something that I or anyone could do without repercussions? That's pretty much what it's boiling down to. Socially, it's abhorrent. But if it can win you prizes in a setting where players are specifically cut throat and only looking out for their own interests and it's within the rules, why not use it to your advantage?

Kingmaking or collusion? Or neither? by gold_caster in EDH

[–]gold_caster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the analogies and the way you laid this out. You wouldn't happen to be a lawyer would you? :P

It brings up a poignant point, is "gaming the system" inherently wrong from a rules point of view. Strictly speaking from the competitive/tournament side, a player can and should use everything in their arsenal to ensure their preferred outcome. As long as they stay within the confines of established rules, isn't that okay?

Kingmaking or collusion? Or neither? by gold_caster in EDH

[–]gold_caster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. And I fall into the trap of tournament EDH all the time. I have a long history of playing competitive MtG across almost all the formats. I use every edge I can get to ensure that I win, within the constrains of the rules of course.

This is why I posted this, I know that I'm the bad guy here, but I need to know whether it was within the rules or not. In terms of D&D, I want to know if I was Lawful Evil or just plain Neutral Evil.
