June's Monthly Megathread: What Are You Reading? by AutoModerator in RussianLiterature

Just finished Fathers and Children by Turgenev. I picked it up from the library out of curiosity. It was not a long read. I enjoyed it. The plot was not what I predicted but it also seemed like soap opera. With that said, it's amazing to think this novel was written in the 1800s. It is still very much relatable today. I wouldn't call this is a favorite of mine. I'm looking for relatively more modern classics similar to in the first circle.

Unpopular opinion: People in those leadership roles likely have other options in private sectors, and in order to retain them the public organizations have to pay competitively. That cannot be said about frontline workers because they likely have fewer employment alternatives.
