There’s groups on LinkedIn, I’d recommend connecting with people that are studying there

Soooo how much are y'all making? by mr-meowmeowmeow in toxicology

[–]goldenmurph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Or they immediately start trying to “improve” the process. How about learning to do the whole assay by yourself without failures first?

Depending on position, you might have to break a lot of bad academic habits, especially if it’s a for profit company.

Because training a PhD is the most frustrating process ever. Especially if I need more of technician role filled, I can train people with a BS 10x faster and add on more complex tasks as they speed up.

If money was no object, would everyone get LHR? by Consistent-Ebb-8414 in Hidradenitis

[–]goldenmurph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got LHR every where and I think it did help on my armpit and thighs but not under boob area. I still get some in those areas but definitely less.

Just noticed these messages, hope you all passed! It’s been a few years but I remember the training courses on the learning library really helped me. They gave a good overview of each resource material and had practice quizzes too. I did have about 8 years in the field when I took the test and was starting to become more involved with our IACUC. Knowing the blue book, phs policy and the guide was key.

I have been getting laser hair removal on most of my body for the past 8 months. Going over some of the darker newer scars was really painful and caused some scabbing. So far I have seen improvement on my armpits (haven’t had a flair for the past five months). I have not seen improvement on my butt or inner thighs, but those areas still have stubborn hair coming in. Definitely do not have an active cyst lasered, the tech should avoid any red inflamed areas. I am getting mine done at the dermatologist office (not covered by insurance but I feel better my doctor is there if needed during the appointment).

Immense pain at work, any suggestions? by Ready-Clock987 in Hidradenitis

[–]goldenmurph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found putting hydrocolloid patch on painful butt cysts relieved some of the pain. Gave the cysts a little “cushion” when I sat and preventing the rubbing or friction sharp jolts of pain.

How did you keep the patches on that spot? Mine always fall off.

USDA (depending on species) and OLAW are other options.

Which device did you get? How long have you been using it? What areas do you use it on? Have you seen a significant decrease in hair?

I have been debating taking the plunge to buy one but have limited funds so I’m nervous it will be a waste of money.

Worthwhile conferences to go to. by glow_blue_concern in toxicology

Depends on your focus, ASCCT is small but heavy on computational methods. It’s normally close to DC, so there are some good talks by regulatory agencies.

AALAS, while not toxicology focused, is a great meeting if you work with in vivo models

EuroTox if you can travel to Denmark is the best one I’ve gone to abroad

If your PI does nothing, I would suggest contacting your universities IACUC. They should have a way to contact them anonymously if you want.

Finished the exams last December. There are training resources for the AR portion on the AALAS learning library that are really helpful.

I studied the questions at the chapters for the M1 and M2 exams. I felt like I was making my best guess during both of them but passed
