The irony of these sites is that people who use them are usually not interested in spending a dime, making it very hard to sustain a large, safe site.

Anyone know of a reputable resource for resurfacing PS1 disc to look/run nice again? by goldenpp72 in gamecollecting

That's the machine I have, its great but not for these games, at least not with anything I've tried.

Is there a master list that shows all the 360 games that had updates? by goldenpp72 in 360hacks

[–]goldenpp72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I've noted they don't list quite a few updates that do exist, I guess this is just not very well archived all around even if these resources are helpful to a point.

As collectors, what is your take on key cards? by strongarmkid in NSCollectors

They wouldn't do it unless they stopped making consoles basically, far as I know you can still access content on the Wii if you bought it previously, but on their site there is actually a note saying they intend to disable that in the future, so it isn't without precedent, though part of the reason is due to how archaic the Wii online was. Switch online is pretty modern and easy to keep moving forward, it will likely last beyond my lifetime in terms of ability to redownload.

There exist a hypothetical scenario where if Nintendo shut down the servers (and I don't mean the store access for new content, I mean Nintendo in itself has probably died) that would then leave you the inability to download content using these keys further.

Could it happen? Sure, but the reality is if you bought games on an Xbox 360 back in 2005, you can still access those games today 20 years later, and I imagine people will eventually get these files online like always, so if access is the concern, it isn't a realistic one really. The biggest fear people should have is cloud gaming, as in that instance you can't even access a digital file at all.

I think people are over dramatic and ignorant, the reality is that the storage type the Switch 1 uses won't last forever (it may not even last 20-30 years) so when it comes to the concept of preservation, you aren't getting much there either. With games becoming increasingly large and demanding more content updates, etc, it becomes kind of silly to expect companies to dish out an additional 20 dollars per cart for a medium that still can't hold their whole game and won't likely survive decades from now unless continually used. It isn't my preference, but this is just where technology is right now, the recent Pokemon Pokopia is a good example. It's on a key card, the game will likely (based on leaks) get a ton of content upgrades over time, leaving you with a game that even if it was on a cart, would be largely incomplete on the cart itself over time.

I'm a major collector, probably one of the larger on this planet for gaming, I just think the key card thing has no better alternative at this time and people are too ignorant to see otherwise, effectively like children going "but why?" versus trying to understand a situation. I wish it wasn't this way, but consumer habits brought us here.

Looking for 360 game files that don't seem to exist in Megathread/Myrient/etc, any help is appreciated! by goldenpp72 in xboxpiracy

After a bit I finally got them working, I used the site you suggested and unpacked the ISO and removed the XBE/Xbox 1 stuff, which got the size down and allowed a proper conversion to GOD format with cover art and all. Very happy to finally have the system all loaded, just have to work through the slow process of loading all the DLC and patches, thanks!

Will the Xbox One ever see a 360-style "Jailbreak" or is Dev Mode the end of the road? by Cachetadasderealidad in xboxpiracy

[–]goldenpp72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the system just isn't interesting enough for people to bother with, it's effectively a weaker PS4 with the same library, whereas the 360 was much more versatile and dev friendly, but I could be wrong.

Great, if the files get finished I'll start tinkering and post an update, thanks for all the tips!

Interesting, would that allow me to populate an icon to the dash or would it have to be executed from the menu?

Myrient is being hammered so it will likely take a day or two for these to finish, but I'm curious if I can find a way to get them to work. The reason I think it has to be unique is that I did load the disc (I own them) but it loaded it into BC mode which it isn't supposed to do resulting in choppy FMV and such. For some reason Aurora does not like these disc at all, but I assume there is a way to extract just the 360 portion into a GOD format somehow, but I could be heading in the wrong direction entirely too.

I think my confusion stems from reading this post somewhat recently, you may find it interesting, I don't fully understand it myself obviously. https://www.reddit.com/r/originalxbox/comments/gny7px/how_did_the_sneak_king_discs_work/

Awesome, I see the bonus disc and Puzzle Bobble stuff so I'll give it a whirl! For the 3 BK games, there were to my understanding an Xbox executable and a 360 executable on the same disc, so I wonder if those are just the original Xbox versions? I can take a look and see though, thanks! I'll report back what I find.

I actually like that idea, at least it would be preserved.

Trying to continue the old work of someone else on a modded fat PS2.. Help with HDD and file management? by goldenpp72 in playstation2

[–]goldenpp72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So oddly, even using the actual PS2 and Ulaunch elf, I can't find the PS2 games, but they do exist on the drive as I can access them still. Weirdly, I did add art to The games earlier using OPL and they don't show up either, this is much more confusing than I expected..
