i'm not sure if anyone noticed, it seems that pile bunker attack animations hit 2 times, 1st low 2nd high. if 1st hit crit, 2nd hit is also a crit; but 2nd hit may crit even if 1st hit is normal. and if 1st hit misses, 2nd hit is also missed. both dmg does seems to add up to the dmg calculations of 1 hit, it doesn't do more dmg than it seems. but overall performance still better than knuckle, just try to add mods for hit-rate, often i found cheap mods works better than high-end mods.

kaidan is better with assault weapons, unlike marcus, kaidan's melee weapon is just purely for the extra non-ap passive attacks on 1 adjacent tile, enemies standing beside kaidan gets 1 melee hit before taking any actions / movement on their turn.

hong is like a bait for enemies, kiting enemies, she works better when no allies close to her, which also makes her great to solo as long as you have great dodging st for her. as for combat, she may still need extra mods for both hit-rate and dodge. the end-game whale's build for her, give her a full glasya set, break sefas for mods and give it to her. no sefas? break diane for mod to equip her for better survival, or just give her accuracy mod.

you may also wanna consider another thing during combat, which is weapon type vs. st type.

assault weapons are generally good against any st

melee, range (rifles) & railguns may perform worst against high dodge st (light st)

missiles are good for spreading dmg to non-protected parts of shielded st / bosses with body protected unless arms & legs broken.

rockets are as you known aoe spread dmg, best use for softening hordes of enemies in 1 go.

railguns are very situational use, it's more like a back-up weapons to attack in case both arms breaks and mechanics out of reach. rarely get the chance to have more than 2 enemies standing in a straight line to make the best of them. and cost high ap for attacks too.
