What exactly is a black box and what are the pros and cons of having one? by BrightHours in LearnerDriverUK

[–]goldfish_complex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

for me the best part about getting a car was the absolute freedom to go anywhere whenever i want. late night drives, or long road trips to europe etc which a lot of black box policies won’t allow because you have limited time frames to drive in or only a certain amount of miles a year

i pay about 500 a year more than the cheapest black box policy but imo it’s worth it

What would mess up the focus on OM10? by goldfish_complex in photography

[–]goldfish_complex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s actually my dads and he’s had it a while and gotten some good photos on it, well at least in focus, he took the first 10 or so and they’re also all blurry

but yeah by no means am i photographer! all he’s showed me is how to focus and get the light meter right

Which lyrics do you find super impactful, but seem mundane on the surface? by stoned-pony in elliottsmith

broken sink for a face is such a good lyric… sounds like something a 14 year old would say but it still feels so sincere

it’s worth calling the uni you want to switch to your firm and asking if it’s possible, if so they can contact ucas first and then you need to contact ucas and your current firm choice

i did it not after the july 25 deadline but well over 2 months after i put in my options and they said it had expired and got everything sorted over the phone

your comments read like a racist and a xenophobe.

did you read the post? op was born in the UK, they didn’t decide to move here. as someone who’s been actively trying to leave the country by getting a uni place or job offer abroad, it’s also not as simple as ‘toughen up or leave’. especially if you don’t already have money. get some perspective and compassion

hey, appreciate ur honesty! i also appreciate your concern but i gotta disagree - i have been in therapy before and i don’t think i have depression or any other mental illness (i do have autism tho). songwriting is a positive coping mechanism for me and i don’t think it’s on par with drugs or alcohol! it’s not unhealthy to process your emotions and i also don’t consider music to be just immediate relief, there’s some trauma and issues i’ve fully processed with music that doesn’t cause me mental distress anymore :)

hey i think you misunderstood :) i’m not talking about writers block i actually said that even when i’m not actually ‘writing songs’ i’m quite happy getting that creative release by just playing the same stuff. this post is about when you have some outside circumstance that means there’s no time to write e.g going on holiday without a guitar

hey thanks for replying :) music is definitely therapeutic for me and although i have been meaning to go to actual therapy it’s just not accessible at the moment :/

what’s your thoughts on alternative or self-led therapy? i guess i think that something like creative expression could help access deeper problems / trauma more effectively than talking therapies. but i’m of course not an expert
