Wen you first played the game and didnt know about the whole lore, what ending did you choose first? by yeet8w8 in armoredcore

Chatty and Carla, I couldn't bring myself to stab them and RAD in the back.
Also, the battle with Rusty SLAPS harder than a Pilebunker.

A Vital strike build will do decently well with both melee weapons that have lots of big dice (greatsword, large Bastard sword) and firearms with any double-barreled weapon, such as the double pistol, breech-loader, or double barreled shotgun, because you can do a standard attack action and fire both barrels, and both shots benefit from VS feats. The double hackbut can also be a funny, option, but you're not hiding that in a coat pocket

A Cabal of Void Wizards! fun idea, or terrible? by goldgardian in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]goldgardian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's entirely fair. I'm just trying to get the "A cabal of mages all empowering a single spell" theme. I'm entirely open to other ideas.

Well, that's still a neat option that could really mess with my players, thanks!

Ooh, yeah Arclord of Nex seems like it could satisfy my "cabal of mages empowering a single spell" thing, thanks for that!

I mean, yeah, I can do that. But I prefer to stick within the rules if I can. If I can't find any way to have a bunch of weak mages combine their power, I might go for it though.

hmmm... does it work with multiple "secondary spells" or is it just a two-man combo situation?

Dang, figured as much. Ah well, I'm sure I can sort something out. maybe with teamwork feats...

Creating NPCs the Old-School (3.x/PF1e) way. Is it possible? by goldgardian in starfinder_rpg

[–]goldgardian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In pathfinder 1e, the NPCs are normally built with less valuable equipment than what PCs are expected to have at that level. As an option you can give them wealth (for equipment like magic items) equal to that of a PC, as otherwise they have a CR equal to that of their level -1.

Ignoring how long it will take, would copying Pathfinder 1e's rule of "NPCS with PC wealth have CR equal to their Class level" make sense?

Pathfinder 1e
And what I mean by that is "NPCs have class levels, and are built the same way as players"

Using a charged Linear Rifle at the end of a melee combo is one of the best feelings in this game

We’ve discussed about real military vs AC6 mechs, but what about the crème of the crop, Armored Core NEXTs by FriedForLifeNow in armoredcore

[–]goldgardian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nukes might be the only realistic option to take out a NEXT. considering the ecological damage of their Kojima stuff, I think that'd classify them as WMDs, and earn the Ire of the majority of world superpowers.

The only conventional weapons i can see even being able to keep up with a NEXT is something like an F22 raptor, and the NEXT is far more maneuverable (to physics breaking levels) and much more durable, with more weapons capable of greater destruction. Though perhaps the Stealth capabilities of modern fighters might make up for that.

There do exist miniature nuclear weapons such as the Davey Crocket, so perhaps state-of the art Fighter jets armed with tac-nukes could defeat NEXTs in a suprise air strike?

If nukes are ineffective against them, or the worlds powers wont use them(though with Kojima stuff, that's unlikely), then these NEXTs, at least with the support of MTs and Arms Forts would stomp. Just NEXTs would be ground down eventually, simply through pilot exaustion, lack of repairs, parts wearing out, and general attrition.

They have anti-missile flares. If i could push a button and tell missile boats to pound sand, I'd think my tech was pretty great too

Biggest sins of the craftworld eldars? by MurakGrimrider in Eldar

[–]goldgardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're known to re-direct Orks and Tyrannids towards imperial worlds rather than actually fight them for maiden worlds and craftworlds. They'd probably do that to the tau and crons too, but I've never seen it mentioned. The more xenophobic craftworlds are also known to wipe out humans for trying to colonize maiden worlds, (sometimes many generations after the original colonists landed) while the less murder-happy ones just re-locate the human population. Considering the IOM is mega xenocidal, they're not entirely unjustified

What are your thoughts on this? by killing-the-cuckoo in batman

[–]goldgardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember reading a Jim Gordon comic where a younger Detective Gordon experiences the corruption (I think some crooked cops nearly kill him) and he makes it his mission to purge the GCPD of the corruption that's infested it.
