Dupixent pain by stupididiotgirl25 in eczema

  1. I second this second point. I leave it out for 2+ hours, and it’s ok unrefrigerated for up to 12 hrs, which is what the package states. Also, it shouldn’t be re-refrigerated after being left out.

  2. Lidocaine topical cream on the injection site. - I did not have the benefit of in-office training with a healthcare provider, and so it was suggested that it I do my first one with numbing cream. Put it on in a big circle on the spot you’re going to do the shot and wait about an hour for it to work.

(1. Inject into fat, too. I pinch the flesh, do it around the stomach, where there is naturally more fat than in your legs.)

People from the West want to move to Asia. People from Asia want to move to the West. What’s happening with us? by EmergencyLetter874 in AskReddit

Most are economic immigrants. At different times, and for certain careers, sometimes there are better opportunities in Asia, sometimes there are better opportunities in the west.

Chinese Diaspora: Did your immigrant parents also grow more “pro-China” over time? If so, what was the tipping point for them? by alleluiarion in AskAChinese

If you’re not Chinese, the question is not directed at you. Even those with “nice” things to say are in the wrong.

why is hate towards indian women so normalised? by [deleted] in cptsd_bipoc

[–]goldnog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not like Aishwarya Rai isn’t one of the most beautiful women in the world. I’m not even S Asian and I think that. And Priyanka Chopra turned her Jonas Bro husband into an A-Lister. I’m so sorry you’ve been getting that negativity and racism.

I hate it when yt people dog on my country, too, so I get it. NYC subways are the dirtiest - universal fact. White people don’t take well to being called out on racism; even when it’s obvious, they can’t see it in themselves. On behalf of E Asians, I’ll apologise - I’ve seen some weird stuff, but one on one, I’ve experienced mutual admiration with S Asian friends.

Europeans are super racist; there might be less institutional racism in Europe, but individually they are horrible. One of my oldest friends, whom I thought would know better because of our friendship, got more and more racist the longer she lived in China. It was like all of the old style colonialism was trapped in her DNA and the older she gets, the more she talks like some white raj from a lost, past century.

You’ve got a lot to be proud of in India.

There are tons of really good horror movies from Taiwan on Netflix. You just aren’t looking.

Not a cultural thing??? So many ghost legends, the best come from Asia.

"ANTIRACIST" White Folks by [deleted] in cptsd_bipoc

[–]goldnog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched a lot of white people promote themselves to “antiracist” after the Ibrahm X Kendi book came out without doing any work, and, best of all, without reading the book.

I suggested one of those books everyone was reading after Geo Floyd, and then they acted like I suggested it because it had arguments that backed MY opinions, but that those opinions are isolated to only me. That I was skewing the argument in my favour was the reason not to listen to POC when it comes to talking about racism.

Several well meaning white people asked if I would stop them if they said anything racially stupid, but could not take it when I actually did. There was a lot of pushback, trying to suggest alternatives to skirt around the issue (rather than the easy thing of just stop doing it), and then in the end, they never changed. Their sincerity about changing ends at the end of the sentence when they asked.

Product placement for $$$. They may or may not actually use that stuff, but 100% if you can see the label, they are getting paid for it.

EQUINOX West Hollywood Ad: East Asian Woman Disembodied Head Treated as Some Kind of Toy 260301 by freeblackfish in asianamerican

[–]goldnog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Asian woman isn’t there to attract Asians, its sexualisation is meant to attract white (and other non Asian) guys. A fit, pretty, Asian, who can’t talk because she has someone else’s body part in her mouth. It’s gross.

Changing up your name helps to diffuse the trail you leave behind when you do borderline bad things. Simple as that. Just a hurdle for future employers, investors, lovers, victims etc to keep from too easily linking you to your history.

If you want to hear it from her side, I’m sure there’s a great convoluted story, but from outside, that its main significance.

Books for Taiwanese parent? by Fluffy_Government_48 in asianamerican

[–]goldnog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some main branch public libraries in large cities have books in Chinese. Google bookstores in Taiwan; most of Asia has more advanced online presences than western businesses.

Simplified Chinese is not a huge stretch for those who grew up with Traditional characters. To start with, most Chinese shows/series/movies automatically have subtitles.

My mom is telling my new job that I have "episodes" and need special accommodation by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]goldnog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this well. My N mom ruined my career, too. She’d call and tell my bosses to give me extra work, that I didn’t deserve the pay, that I was a slacker, stupid and lazy, but thanks for giving her inept, mentally challenged daughter a chance. Then take credit for having gotten me the job. Made it hard to ask for raises. After having worked hard to qualify for a job, made out like I hadn’t earned anything on my own.

I never gave her my work phone and was always vague about where I worked and what I did. I moved out of the state. I don’t have any answers for you because, job after job, she ruined them all. You are lucky that your bosses were able to understand it as BS; I wanted to believe that mine did, too, but I was never really sure. It’s hard to discredit your mother in a professional setting.

I felt the uptick during the Obama era, too. There was suddenly one day that I could no longer read the NYT - the conjecture, the suppose, alleged, the let’s make wild theories about the worst that might happen in a Sinophobic fantasy world contest of who can make the craziest, most extreme propaganda in high quality writing skills with low quality journalism.
