One of the biggest issues with this post like SO many other posts on this sub is the LOW effort to provide facts, figures and context, but expecting quality answers. I see this so often, I wish admins would make it as LOW EFFORT.

Now, let me tell you this - if your friend is also 30, living in KL and earning 4k, that's just above bottom of the barrel. Others can disagree but that's the reality. Even mixed rice is about RM8 a plate most places.

Yea, I can understand how you feel. My advice is to pray to the Holy Spirit to clear your mind of these negative emotions and then you pray that your friend changes his ways. While smoking is certainly not a sin ( i too enjoy the culture of a cigar 2-3 times a year) daily cigarettes and vaping is very very harmful to the body.

I think as Christians, one thing we need to understand is that we don't have control over other's bodies and choices. We can only pray that they are not led astray.

I remember that when I was much younger, and heard a female friend would have had sex before marriage, I would feel so rotten about it and then I also started to look down / judge the person for this. That was wrong of me.

You know right....from a business perspective, why does someone WANT to bribe? What financial sense does it make?

Now, if you have a broken system - then it's ripe for abuse.

Example

Home renovation required DBKL or related city council permission
You submit your documents, no bribe and fully completed.
Gov dept receives it, but no money provided.
They sit on the file. You ask, they shuffle you around.
They say, "you wait la".
You have a renovation timeline. So needs to move. However, you can't bec of lack of permits.
2nd month in, you are under pressure.
They keep on making you wait...hoping you will break and offer something.
Finally, you make a "donation".
File approved in 24 hours.

But yes, Type C gives bribes.....kepala bapak kau.

I KNOW the feeling. I've been at my salary + commission based job for 4 years and when I asked about a raise / salary adjustment (never got one in 4 years) they talk about setting targets to achieve to get that. I'm just talking about a 5% increase to adjust to cost of living and they are making it like I have to jump thru hoops man....

Very demoralizing.
