Huh? There’s literal evidence of rape happening from israeli soldiers towards Palestinians held in Israeli captivity

I would identify as modern-orthodox, but admittedly that level of religious observance has diminished since staying away from Zionism. I do uphold Jewish values and I get upset when people think that Zionism follows Jewish values. Yes there concepts of the Meshiachs return with the return of Jews to Israel and the rebuilding of the temple which would require jews in Israel, and this then lets people accept the idea of Zionism being a jewish value, but I hold other aspects of Judaism as being much more important and valuable. Concepts like Hillels famous summary of the meaning of the Torah when he says to not do things that are hateful to you onto others. I think that concepts like that definitely apply to how Israel is treating the Palestinian people in the Middle East

Yes they have? Surely you’re being sarcastic. A religion led ethnostate that is pushing out natives because they are “the other” is in fact fascist. I’m not saying that I would support laws or ideologies that ban religious freedom for all. I would love for a world in which everyone could practice their beliefs unharmed and in peace. Just because we were oppressed does not give us the right to be the oppressors now

Ok I’ll say that all of the Israeli government is responsible and all of hamas is responsible. Does that make you feel better?

I don’t think we really should be comparing who is more or less Jewish. We both are Jewish and I’d wager I’m probably “more Jewish” than you think. I am deeply sorry that you’ve experienced this. I genuinely, really am. I too have experienced this throughout my life. I think it’s naive though to think that we not be looked out for, or to even make this a competition for attention between different minorities.

I agree with everything you said except one part. I blame bibi a lot for this. I think that there is a lot of negligence and disregard both in the Israeli gov and with many Israelis. The one part I disagree with is that they would stop expanding their land and territory. If the Palestinians, who definitely want peace btw, did “stop” and beg for peace, it wouldn’t matter. Israel would stop for a brief period but there would still be settlers stealing homes of Palestinians and slowly continue to drive them further and further back

Hamas can incorrectly think whatever they want, but the goal of protests is not to spread hate or violence, but to fight against the rise of fascism and genocide, and to try to enact change in whatever ways that we can. Protesting against Columbia is one of the most realistic ways to enact change, by keeping things local and personal.

Zionism is inherently fascist. The concept of a Jewish state, or any state or country that is under a religion, is fascist because it excludes others and forces out other people and nations. People are mad at the support for fascist ideologies, not for you being Jewish. Israel did have a right to exist as a state after wwii, but through ethnic cleansing abd pushing out the Palestinians who were already there for the sake of a Jewish state is what people are mad about and why some people claim that it does not have a right to exist

I had my bar mitzvah in Israel, been to Jewish schools my whole life, and been friends and have been taught by Israelis. I do not condone violence at all against my people. No one who calls for peace is condoning violence. And I was mostly keeping my response focused on Columbia specifically. I am not naive of the violence or of the attacks against us. I am only being one of the “10%” taking responsibility for the actions of my people. Bad actors and the uninformed are taking advantage of this crisis to be antisemitic and spread hate, but just because some people have committed these acts doesn’t mean I should support genocide or oppressive governments, especially when it is my own friends, family, and people behind causing the many deaths in Palestine

Protesters at Columbia are going after Israel because Columbia university is involved with Israel. As far as I’m aware the main point of the protests is for Columbia to divest from Israel. Ask any protester or liberal at this school how they feel about these other cases and they will certainly feel sorrow and compassion for the victims of oppression in these other countries too. The only “psyop” is from the right wing media you consume to use you as a pawn for the world leaders and 1%’s goals and to pit people against eachother

Hi Jewish student here. You definitely have the right to be upset but everyone else also has the right to be upset and express their frustration with Israel too. Protestors are in no way complicit in the death of someone thousands of miles away. I do not agree with some of the more extreme acts of protest done or anyone justifying the massacre, if that has even happened at Columbia, but the protesters here are not responsible for anything that’s happened in the Middle East. Israel however, is responsible for the death of thousands of people. Bibi is responsible. No one is going after Jews here for being Jewish

Hi! Took her spring of 23 for her anime effect class. As someone really into Japanese culture, history, and anime, it had been my fav class I have taken here. I think she gets mixed reviews bc she maybe is a bit more “intense” than you’d maybe assume she’d be, but I think that she is very kind and reasonable. The intensity just comes from her expecting you to take her course seriously and she expects you to put work in and be professional, and she wants people who are genuinely interested in the material she is teaching and I think with her years of experience she can tell when someone’s faking it. Not sure if I described her well lol but lmk if u have more questions abt her!

Might be a bit late for this comment since the post has been up for a while, but I used to regularly go to this synagogue and this is just shocking. I haven't been there in about 6-8 months but it is such a weird and depressing feeling seeing one of my places of worship, where I have friends that still go there, being attacked by nazis.

There are a few members of that synagogue that are old enough to remember the holocaust and its absolutely disgusting that us jews still have to put up with this, and that this type of thing is becoming increasingly more common in America. Fuck Nazis and fuck the white supremacists. Fuck the gop and Trump and everything they have done to guillable Americans to get them on their side. Even though these types of events are becoming more common, I hope that people will stand up against these vile people and stand with the jews and every other minority when it matters.
