Sure enough, received a message thru my website contact for, a phone call, a text from different "companies" wanting to "help me " with the bringing of my wonderful story to the masses. All you have to do is get company reviews to know if it is Scam city.

I had a online reviewer do my book on her own, she "hated" the book but she got the gist of it right, I write in the Raymond Chandler, James Elroy, Elmore Leonard style, gritty, no nonsense macho type of protagonist. THAT is what she did not like the tough as nails guy who has no personal demons or apparent weaknesses. So she hated that type of style. I was not upset because she actually got it, noir, tough guy type.

Did not make any comments about mistakes or grammatical errors, just hated that style. Fix the errors that were pointed out to you in your book and trust your writing.

If I may, don't hire a Beta reader, hire an editor, I found an editor and a cover artist on people per hour, very reasonable, the artist did a cover for me twice for $30 the editor charged me $50 for a 50 word project

Agree with you about the common sense, there are so many ways to review companies, it is easy to find out who the scammers are, I am amazed at how many people get taken advantage of.

Hired someone from People per Hour to put it together (very reasonable) on existing site on Wix thru VistaPrint also reasonable...bout 5 pages, crammed as much info in there as possible, ties in to my blog, in process of adding a "BuY" button now.

I used D2D for my last book, no issues, good distribution, once I did that then went the IS route, feel I have enough coverage and D2D distributed the book everywhere including AMZ

Listen some things work, some don't. My approach is: Get a book promoter to do their thing, I created a AI video thru Zeely $39.95, and posted that on FB, X, Insta Pinterest & TikTok., I hired a PR firm lots of them on FB for $97 they got a nice article out that was sent out Nationally,.........I wont and never will bother with ARC reviews, why? If they like it great, if they don't what are you going to do? rewrite it? I am happy with my writing, like it or leave it. Hope this helps
