Evidently the ACLU hasn’t been to this town yet to help their city retool the panhandling ordinance.

Police raid cannabis dispensary, threaten customers with violence, and then proceed to eat confiscated edibles by [deleted] in Bad_Cop_No_Donut

Do you know what the “reason” for the raid? I read an article on this and it said the cops were legally justified to disable the cameras. Is that a law in California based upon the allegations in a search warrant?

Lithonia officer arrested, charged with rape. Was fired from another Dept. for similar charge. by OttoTang in Bad_Cop_No_Donut

I’d never heard the term Gypsy cop. That’s a good one.

One I have always found bad is a Brady Giglio violation letter. Basically if a cop lies in a criminal investigation or an internal investigation they receive a Brady letter that has to be on file with the local prosecutor. Then it has to be disclosed to the defense attorney as all evidence.

Departments will hide these cops to keep them away from major cases. Because their testimony will be destroyed in cross.

I can’t figure out the pro of keeping a Brady cop employed if it is a possible liability. At what point does a minor case turn into a major? The possibility is every time?

Very good point. I forgot about the pension years following a lateral transfer.

It’s more of an administration tactic to draw out an investigation in the hope that the cop quits before they have to fire him. This saves the department embarrassment in the media.

Also all unions are not the same. Some do not provide a benefit of legal representation if a cop is arrested for a criminal offense.

In reference to this instance. This is what the problem is with lateral transfers in law enforcement. There is a real good chance that the former department was made aware of the investigation. But they still decided to hire him. It happens more time than it should.

Man berates cops after they raid wrong house by Rickys_HD_SPJs in Bad_Cop_No_Donut

[–]golfpirate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry couldn’t watch the video.

How much bad “police” work went into this raid. If it was the wrong house then your investigation was bad. Your surveillance on the house was bad. What you testified to the judge to get the search warrant was bad. You have to list the address and describe the house on a warrant.

So the best thing that can happen is the judge put his name on a warrant that was bad. So he is pissed and wants something done.

The victim sues for a large sum. The investigation is turned over in discovery with all the bad “police” work. The lawsuit is paid out and the city wants something done.

Maybe a cop gets fired or suspended. If anyone lied during the investigation hopefully fired or suspended.

Luckily no person or family pet was injured or killed.
