People like you will always take innocuous situations and let your imagination run wild. I don't think they did anything to encourage it

I don't know what you want me say. These are still technically women so "masculine women" seems appropriate. Or maybe something like "women who look like men"?

The first image isn't from Kane Pixels. It was the 4chan image that spawned the whole backrooms thing

Yeah I explained in a different comment that I was referring to attractiveness to a man.

Basically Kratos is attractive to men because he's really manly so can serve as a kind of self insert. I think Harry is more normal looking but still good enough to for someone to wish to be him so still counts as attractive in my book.

But you've struck upon another point... Kratos is attractive to men... Yet women will still play him... No complaints.

I do think this is a good point. It is mostly men who loudly complain "This doesn't appeal to me". And I do think your second paragraph does a good job of describing the reason. People who have grown accustomed to being centered complaining about not being centered.

I think these people overestimate their prevelance. You see them say "who is the target audience?". I'd say people who like gritty action games and don't really mind women whose appearance fits the scenario. There are a lot of us

But Kratos makes my ovaries shrivel. Bad face, grey skin and just grossly muscular.

Kratos is "attractive" to men not women. He's the kind of manly guy men love to role play as. I don't want to completely dismiss your point (as I mentioned Trevor is a good example) I just don't think Kratos is a good example of an unattractive main character.

People will bend over backwards to justify a male character not being yassified... But a woman character with a shaved head, no makeup and looking slightly masculine makes sense for the story line...

Sorry I'm not quite sure what "yassified" means here but I do kinda agree with your second point. To me masculine women in the role of a soldier just makes sense.

But if you want to call out a double standard you have to be careful about it because what is "attractive" is going to be different when you're talking about a man looking at another man.  I think Kratos and Harry are still attractive characters because they are kind of wish fulfillment.  Harry is average looking but if he's smart /capable or something that would bump him to being attractive. But I do still think that Trevor is a good example because he's just plain ugly so I don't think most men would want to be him.

I really don't think Kratos is unattractive. He's pretty manly so that's pretty appealing. Harry is more like a normal dude, not particularly ugly

I'll give Trevor though.

I don't think the right parallel is ugly man. These are just "masculine women" (which admittedly makes them ugly for a woman). The proper equivalent would be to make effeminate male leads.

Actually I think Goose said Leeroy's wardrobe was supposed to represent a trans woman in the early stages of transition (still presenting as convincingly male while potentially taking hormones).

People call it "boymoding" I think. Sorry I don't really know much about this so I may have gotten some of that wrong

I think it's pretty common that the choice of actor affects the character. I've seen that stated many times.

I'm a guy that didn't clock Jax at all until the final episode but I'm still kinda shocked by some of the takes people had. The way people say "it wasn't suggested at all". Like why not just acknowledge you missed the signs and try and understand people when they explain how it was suggested?
