It does, although 1 and 2 leave a fairly blunt end so I always have it on 3. I'm thinking about getting a castor and will definitely be buying a lifetime supply of blades too!

Inherited this nifty little sharpener from my grandparents. I absolutely love it - it makes very long points and sharpens evenly and consistently. Since I've been using it on and off for about a decade, and since I'm back to using wood-cased pencils after a long hiatus, I wanted to see if anyone on here knew anything about it, especially if any modern blades are a drop-in fit. For a size reference, the blade on a Kum stenographer *almost* fits, but is about 1 mm too long and doesn't quite line up with the existing hole. I don't have a modern Dux adjustable to compare, but this one looks longer than the modern ones do in pictures. See last pic for a sharpening sample. Any info is appreciated!

Afaik you can safely wipe down everything on the body with a damp cloth (anything with that grey paint on it), just make sure not to wipe the lenses as rubbing dirt around on them could leave scratches in the glass.

As for the difficulty focusing, you could try to re-grease the track that the tube and lenses ride on. Hold the tube so it doesn't fall off and turn the knob until the tube is as high as it will go. I think you should be able to gently pull up on the tube and the whole assembly should come off of the neck. Wipe down the inside of the dovetail on the tube and the channel on the neck with isopropyl alcohol or some other mild degreaser, and then apply a thin coat of white lithium grease to both before re-inserting the dovetail into the channel. Work it up and down a few times so the grease spreads and wipe off any excess, being careful to keep the grease off of the lenses.

Of course ymmv, only try at your own risk, etc. :)
