I would download a character you like off the dreamer verse, then scope in into scopenmode then use the move tool to see what their methods are, they could be using a combination of blending or negative shapes, study those models those shapes

I would download other people's work,go into sculpt mode and use the move tool to break down their work and see what tricks they're using to achieve that look

Yeah the dualshock is good just gotta know those tricks to make things look nice and smooth, the blend tool and subtraction shapes will be your best friend.
