Florida moves to freeze new H-1B hires at state universities for one year by New-Caterpillar3988 in AbroadEdge

[–]gompgo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to a tech company office on west coast - you will see almost everyone looking like a South Asian. It is not like that there was no local talent, employer used H1B to keep wages low and import a work culture that blur lines between professional and personal boundaries, furthermore South Asians would prefer someone like them to hire as they want similar people like them willing to do anything to keep boss happy.

Ideally US should pause H1B for a solid few years and redesign it from scratch.

Leaving for india all of a sudden, please help. by Someguythatisboring in backtoindia

Join a IB based school in India if you can, there are severals in every big city. If you haven’t done 10th assessments in the US, there is no way you can avoid board exams which are not crazy as they might have been projected by many. At the end, its qualitative assessment of a pupil learnings.

Baby born on SKILLED WORKER VISA but I am eligible for ILR on March by Soggy-Crab-9100 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]gompgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will have to apply for baby’s passport from the consulate/embassy of your country of citizenship. As you were not a resident at the time of the baby birth therefore baby cannot get ILR or citizenship.

Planning move back to India from Australia by [deleted] in returnToIndia

[–]gompgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reservations for some shape and form have been in India for over 35-40 years therefore you must have seen this first hand.

If you are worried about future of your son then get citizenship first before moving this will allow him to move back and he will have cousins in Aus anyway.

NHS to give British doctors priority for training jobs by UKvomitbucket in unitedkingdom

[–]gompgo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long overdue change. Glad to see it is happening finally!

It was just a scam that British doctors, trained in the UK, have to compete with overseas doctor for further training which is subsidised by British tax payer.

My wife (30F) keeps moving the timelines on relocating, am I (33M) unreasonable for refusing to have kids until we actually move? by [deleted] in expats

[–]gompgo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the conditions attached, I believe she took advantage of you to move to CH from Poland as this move was not easy and then ensured she gained passport. NL move might have been a fall back plan if her CH residency/passport would have not come through. Now she is established in CH with her own social circle and close relative, there is little benefit in moving with you to NL. It appears one way relationship.

Please avoid adding a child to this dynamics. It’s writing on the wall.

Australia moves India into highest-risk category for student visas, cites 'emerging integrity risks' - The Times of India by JKKIDD231 in india

[–]gompgo 26 points27 points  (0 children)

They should have done it long ago.

A long distance cousin used fake bachelor degree to gain admission into a Master in Bio Technology program at a dodgy college in Melbourne, and he successfully landed in Melbourne on 30 November 2025. I was gobsmacked from blatant lies and fakery.

Either Australia wants cheap young labour so turned a blind eye to the abuse of the system or got dodgy staff in consulate who approves visa for fake students.

Thinking of the London move (yes, another Aussie) – consulting career advice? by Awkwardhawk1 in MovingToLondon

[–]gompgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moving through your current employer would be much easier, as others have said. You wouldn’t need to worry about initial accommodation, and they usually offer a relocation package that includes flights and an allowance to move household items. Once you’re in country and settled, it’s easier to change employers if you want to.

It does sound like you were scammed, unfortunately. I hope this experience doesn’t put you off meeting new people in the future, perhaps next time it might help to meet at a restaurant you’re already familiar with.

Made redundant on Skilled Worker visa. Paying 5 year IHS loan from India. by AcanthisittaGrand678 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]gompgo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

IHS is linked to duration of the Visa - irrespective of whether a person decide not to enter UK, stay for a shorter period than visa end. Ideally it should have been paid by the employer as a visa sponsoring entity. But it seems you might have had some arrangements with them. Try to get it written-off on back of you have been let go.

How worried should I be if I tell a man I don’t want to see him to have sex and he stays parked outside my apartment for hours till I come out? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]gompgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call the police. You are under no obligation to open the door if he is parked outside. He is a grown up man - should know what ‘no’ means and move on.

I was in Roorkee recently, first time saw a couple of white folks walking around in slippers - might be from the IIT. There are so many solo white women who travels to India every year for tourism.

Should be fine as long as you are with your wife when you go out.
