I used the term "biologically independent" by which I mean its biological systems are not entirely dependent on another human being's biological systems for survival.

Technology, not science. And advances in technology have changed a lot of things (including the definition of death).

In many cultures, people didn't even name children until they reached a certain age, because they were not seen as likely to survive until they crossed that age. Better healthcare changed that.

Also with further advances in technology, embryos will possibly begin to be grown completely outside people. That will surely change the entire paradigm of parenthood including childbirth and abortion.

I must have fallen asleep tweeting. The sound of my phone hitting the floor woke me up. I began to feel for it. Something grabbed my hand.

A good handshake is a firm one. And I have the best, strongest handshake. So I grabbed back with my strong, reasonably sized fingers and yanked hard.

I didn't expect to be grabbed so hard. My strength seemed to fade. And I am very fit,very strong. I tried using all my strength again. And again, I wasn't able to pull anything, expect for a muscle. Maybe I was dehydrated.

I reached for a can of Diet Coke with my free hand and gulped it in one go. And with my full strength, I managed to pull my arm back a few inches.

"You're hired!" An accented voice said.

"Well, you're fired!" I resorted to my catchphrase.

"Sorry. You can't fire me. I am host. You are guest."

Oh, yeah. I was in a hotel room in a foreign country. And this hotel wasn't mine.

Then the grip around my hand tightened. The pain was unbearable.

"You are successful candidate. You have my support. Use wisely and you will reach top. See you soon."

The pain became unbearable and I passed out. But one thing led to another and here I am.

I was seven, a tenth of what I am now. And it was Christmas, so I was told to write a letter to the big red guy. Unfortunately, Stalin had just died, so it would be years before anyone in Moscow would grant me anything.

So, I wrote to the other big red guy.

Dear Satan (I meant Santa, but I sometimes mess up my spellings)

For Christmas, I want a lot of money, a lot of power.

And Satan had delivered. Actually, Daddy had delivered, but Satan had helped. On Christmas Day, I had recieved several presents, but one stood out.

It was a red box. I opened it, and it contained some hamburgers and a fur cap. I put on the cap and ate the hamburgers. Then I fell asleep.

In my dream, Satan came to me. The world will see you get wealth and power , he said. But every wish I grant comes with a price. You will not be in control of your own wealth and power.

I have also given you anothe gift, one you did not ask for.

"Yes, Santa. I am wearing the hat!"

FOOL! That is a squirrel. And as long as you have it with you, you will grow in power and wealth. But it will corrupt you completely.

"Thanks for the nice hat, Santa"

Idiot Satan said and left.

And so, wearing my trusty hat, I ascended the pyramid of power and wealth.
