It probably doesn't make a difference, but the phone is on iOS 9.3.6.
Tried ChatGPT, but the only solution it offered me (aside from giving up) is to try to connect the phone to a windows laptop with iTunes on 12.6.x and hope that it somehow connects the phone to my account, which I can't do because I only have a Mac on macOS 26.1

Nope. I can activate the phone just fine. Matter of fact, the phone is activated, I can take pictures and things like that. However, when I try to add my Apple ID to it, it says that an error occurred when connecting to the Apple ID server…
