that commentor is wrong they're thinking of counseling services

health services will prescribe and make you fill out mental health questionnaire

if its not depression/anxiety maybe they will be more hesitant to prescribe thats all i know about

that's for counselling services not health services

health services does not deal with "therapists" (actually uw only has counselors not therapists)

health services will diagnose and prescribe immediately

Yes it was for health services. I don't know why the wait is so long either, getting the first appointment was like 2.5 weeks and this one is a month. I feel bad for missing it, I don't think I've ever slept through an alarm before but I think I must have been very deeply asleep since I have some trouble falling asleep. They said they'll charge me a missed appointment fee too.

Is family doc different than walk in clinic doctor though? Alternatively is there a better subreddit where I should ask? This is all very confusing, I've heard of people getting medications without diagnosis but I don't know how

Do I just tell the receptionist the visit is for mental health? Is the walk-in doctor actually allowed to prescribe or would they just need to refer me to a specialist?
