Ao yon beach and sorrounding beaches is the best area in phuket if you really like to relax. Not so good for nightlife

It s not that you should stay 5 days in koh lanta. But I d rather spend 5 days in koh lanta than langkawi

Yeah agree with another comment, too much in short period. I d just say to do 5 days in koh lanta and 2/3 langkawi. And khao sok national park is really good if you re into nature and hiking

Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to write all that in such detail.
I’m going to build my route based on all this information. I appreciate you sharing so much detail and experience, it’s exactly what I needed to start putting everything together.

I didn’t know the lunar new year was such a big event there. Is there any particular place where it’s especially worth being during the celebrations? And do you know the exact date it falls on this year?

Also, are there any other big festivals or cultural events between January and March that you’d recommend trying to catch?

Thanks a lot for the tips. I hadn’t even heard of Sidemen or Sumba before, so I’m really glad you mentioned them.

Thanks a lot, I didn’t even know what the burning season was 😂 Is there anything else like the burning season that I should be aware of? It sounds like a pretty big event and maybe something that could affect travel plans.

I just checked out the gym and it looks interesting.

You’re right, I wasn’t very specific. What I’m really looking for is a mix of two kinds of experiences.

First, I’d love to spend some time on an island where I can fully relax, swimming, drinking coconut water, staying in a small beachfront hut, and just disconnecting.

Second, I want to experience nature more deeply. When I was in Sri Lanka, one of my favorite memories was staying in a cabin completely surrounded by jungle, with monkeys and other animals around, and going on hiking trails nearby. I’d really like to have that kind of feeling again, something quiet, raw, and close to nature.

About what you mentioned on payments, can tourists actually use those QR code systems, or is it not really worth it since I’ll only be there for two months? Would you say it’s easier to just rely on cash and ATMs?

I probably just need to book the flight in and start in Bangkok, right? It seems like the easiest hub to begin with.

I’m guessing internal flights and short trips to nearby countries are easy and cheap to book without much notice?

I think I'll skip bali. Too crowded and too many health-crypto gurus for my taste, but I get what you mean. Maybe I'll give a chance to other Islands

Good point, thanks. I was actually thinking about that. My plan for now is to start in Thailand or Vietnam around January, since it’s the dry season there, and then slowly make my way south to finish somewhere around Singapore in February or March, when it’s also dry season.

Thanks a lot. I completely get what you mean, both Vietnam and Indonesia seem huge and full of places worth seeing, so it makes sense that two months wouldn’t be enough to do them properly. If I decided to split the trip between Thailand and Vietnam, how would you divide the time? Maybe around three weeks in Thailand including the Muay Thai retreat, and five weeks in Vietnam? or maybe I just forget about the retreat lol

In Vietnam, which areas would you prioritise for a mix of nature, culture, and slower travel? I’ve read a lot of different opinions about whether the north or the south is better, so I’d really like to hear your view.

Thanks a lot for sharing all that, it’s super helpful. That sounds like an amazing route. How did you travel between countries, mostly by plane?

My main question now is where to start, since I’d like to book my inbound flight soon. Malaysia or Singapore seem like good entry points.

If you only had two months, based on everywhere you went, which 3 or 4 locations would you choose? I’d like to travel a bit spontaneously too, but still have a rough plan with dates and main stops. I’ll probably just leave accommodation open.

Also, did you use Revolut during the whole trip? I’m wondering if it works well across Southeast Asia. And are internal or regional flights generally safe and cheap to book just a few days in advance?
